Le Clarisse Guest House

Great hotel for the location, staff and delicious fruit salad and sof buttery croissants for breakfast. The staff went out of their way to help me find a “safe” transport option, given I was a woman travelling by my self….. I wasn’t that worried, but they were!

It’s a 100 year old building with 100 year old windows, and new buildings going up on all 3 sides. Unfortunately, this means half the rooms effectively have no windows (blocked by the building behind) or look over the street, with all the noise from motorbikes racing up and down the street till midnight. The sea view from the roof is also mostly obstructed by the neighbours roof construction too.

The only good thing about this place is that it is close to the beach.

1. As soon as i made the booking, I was asked to pay 50% of the tariff, else they would not hold the room for me. So there was no such thing as book now and pay later for this one. 2. While paying, I was offered the option to upgrade to a room with a view. I did. Then I was informed the only view available was street view from the balcony. As a result, I ended up not using the balcony at all. So, extra payment for nothing. 3. The so called sea view is just a corner on their top floor where you can see the beach through the railing. Almost not worth it. 4. I asked for a vegetarian, non-egg breakfast and i got a south Indian breakfast, the next day. 5. Internet fluctuates every few seconds. 6. The TV in my room was not working, I complained once, then just put up with it. 7. There is no intercom in the room, which means if you need anything, you need to run down to the reception. They do share a mobile number but that is either not answered at all or answered by a woman who does not understand anything - just keeps saying hello, hello. 8. If you need your room cleaned, ask for it. If you need water, ask for it. Nothing is default here. Overall, absolutely not worth the premium rates they charged me.

What a lovely Guest house. The owner and staff were wonderful. Very helpful for all our needs. The staff were always available and ready to help. The room was clean and cosy. The balcony overlooking the street was a nice place to relax. We really loved the breakfast. It is outstanding. The views on the roof terrace are amazing looking onto the beach and sea. The stairs are a bit narrow so be careful. I would highly recommend staying at Le Clarise Guest House. It also has a great location, near the beach front and also lots of places to eat and drink. I would recommend Les Saveurs opposite. Thanks to all At Le Clarisse.

The location of La Clarisse Guest House is excellent. It is well maintained, clean and the staff are super helpful. The breakfast though not a spread, was really nice and they were willing to go out of their way to provide us what we wanted. It is In the French Colony and close to the Rock Beach and close to most of the good restaurants.

La Clarisse Guest House being an apartment type of building, built many years ago, does not have a lift - though it has only 3 floors. The steps for young people are extremely doable and quite quaint and cute. THe quality of bed sheets though could improve.

Excellent position just behind the front, very friendly and helpful staff, clean and large room, very good Wifi - best of all was the roof terrace where we could have breakfast, and sit during the day. Not overlooking the beach, but reasonable view of the sea.

Rooms were spacious. Location was very good close to promenade Beach. Terrace was comfortable with view of the sea. Place was neat and clean. Staff was polite

No lift, the stairs were very narrow. Breakfast had very little choice. Staff was unable to communicate well enough to understand our requirements.
