Royal Orchid Central, Shimoga

This hotel is great, offering very comfortable and spacious rooms. The location was fantastic as well, making it easy to get around. We were very pleased with our stay overall.

The housekeeping staff was extremely helpful and did a fantastic job keeping my room clean and maintained throughout my long visit. I want to be clear that their service was excellent. However, this good service was completely spoiled by one major problem: The staff constantly pressured me to write fake reviews. Staff members asked me to give them 5-star ratings and mention their names almost every day of my long stay, which felt very intrusive. The most upsetting moment was right before I checked out when a staff member came to my room and practically forced me to fill out a review. He told me to give a 5-star rating for every single amenity, even the ones I didn't use. I was not allowed to give my honest opinion. This experience destroyed my trust in this hotel and makes me believe all their positive reviews are not real. The hotel needs to stop forcing guests to lie in their feedback immediately. Second, the hotel needs an update. Many of the amenities and furniture were very old and damaged. For example, the small sofa in the room had holes in the fabric, and other items had cracks. These old items made the place feel less than premium. A small upgrade is definitely needed.
