Tango Mar Beachfront Boutique Hotel & Villas

You couldn’t get a more private and beautiful beach location. Its picture post card beautiful beach is just out of this world and honestly would be difficult to beat given it’s literally a 2 km private beach…max 10 people on at any one time! Pool was really nice and swim up bar a nice touch. Our kids enjoyed the smoothies and we enjoyed the cocktails! The hotel looks like something out of a Roger Moore based James Bond movie. Tonnes of charm and unbelievable setting.

Breakfasts were pretty basic, not unpleasant but perhaps not quite 4* hotel standard. Sometimes felt some of staffs smiles were a little jaded or forced, not all.

Very remote, no villages within easy reach. The beach, the surf never laid down enough to get in the water safely, of course we are old so it is probably ok for those that are young and strong.

The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The food was excellent-just excellent. Far better than other resorts.

3 small pools are great. The beach is beautiful. The grounds are very well kept with lots of local wildlife to view. The staff is superb. Everyone is friendly and they work hard to accommodate you. The food is prepared very well.

Good and bad; Tango Mar is isolated. It is 11 minutes taxi from nearby Tambor Beach and very therefore expensive to add a four way trip to go there and back to another restaurant: $15 each way. No Uber. You need a car because the hotel offers no shuttle service to other restaurants. Montezuma Beach is 3 times further. Tango Mar food is good but after a few days you crave variety. Oddly there are few sea food dishes on the dinner menu, more pasta, no Mexican dishes. If you want fish they have one Red Snapper item that is very good but it is only on the lunch menu, but not on the dinner menu. They need to move it to the dinner menu as well, otherwise you will be disappointment in the fish that is served on the dinner menu. Wifi coverage is spotty in the rooms. TV channels are poor. Netflix, Youtube did not work at all.

The view of the beach was spectacular.

Our dinner on Valentine's evening was somewhat of a disappointment. It took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive after we placed the order. Also, the waitress let us know when we were ready for the Valentine menu desert that they were out of the two choices. I asked if we would be able to have the desert cost removed from our order and she said that we could not. She did offer an alternative of ice cream but I was disappointed in how she handled it. There should have been enough deserts for everyone that night.
