Sankhu Niwas

The hotel exterior and garden are beautiful. There is a nice lounge area also with a library. Looked like a nice place to chill (we did not get the chance due to 1 night stay) We were upgraded from standard to deluxe room (we highly appreciated) The room was spacious, quite clean (bedsheets and towels smelled fresh) and comfortable. There were coffee, tea, kettle and also shampoo and showergel. Breakfast was delicious (omlet, toast, fruits). Pity we could not try their resturant for dinner as it was closed due to Holy holiday. They recommended us the hotel next door for dinner which was also very nice. Staff was very welcoming and kind. They served us with welcome drink upon arrival. Was very appreciated

The airconditioning was positioned just in front of the bed so it was blowing directly in our face while sleeping. We used the ceiling fan instead which was perfect. The bed matrass needs to be changed. It is a very old one and you could feel the springs when sitting on it. Despite that it did not disturb us during our sleep. We had a good night rest. Lastly, not a big issue but could be improved was the dust on the bedside tables. We realized that it was dusty when we put our phones there. Everything else was very clean.

Good property, old colonial, just off the main road. They serve breakfast but the restaurant, which is brilliant, just 100 metres away.

Tasty simple breakfast - tea/coffee, toast, bananas, omelettes/eggs, and an Indian option each day, parathas and curd, or poha. Helpful, friendly staff (although limited English spoken). Nice outdoor and indoor common areas available. Spacious room. Good value.

Very noisy every night until 10-11pm due to huge event/wedding venue across the road. We got unlucky and stayed during wedding season!

There was a heater in the room.

I don’t like giving bad reviews but this place just did not live up to its claims. It was adequate as a stopover and if the description had been honest it would have been alright. Shabby room, no restaurant, on street parking, unhelpful staff.

Can't sleep coz there's a wedding party.
