Rowton Hall Hotel and Spa

We have stated previously and enjoyed our stay. It’s a beautiful building in a quiet location. Breakfast was quite good although a little off putting to see flies landing on the continental options that were out on a table.

We were ‘upgraded’ to a junior suite room however this was at the front of the hotel and overlooked the car park (we booked a garden view room) it was also extremely hot with the temperature over 35° in the room and not dropping much overnight. A garden room would have been the other side of the hotel and likely at least a little cooler. Overlooking the car park was a nightmare as the windows had to be open to get even a small amount of air flow, this meant near constant noise for hours as there was what I presume was a prom type event and they were being collected in many different cars including an American style police car that sat with lights and sirens blaring. The room we were in had dead flies and wasps on the window sills and the ‘fans’ provided were tiny desk fans and completely useless in the heat. Toiletries in the bathroom were near empty and the shower went from freezing cold to boiling hot with no warning and no control. We were only staying for one night and the reception and other staff seemed disinterested in anything so it wasn’t worth complaining (I did try). Suffice to say it’s unlikely we will stay again and wouldn’t recommend it during the heat of summer unless they invest in either air con in rooms or at least some larger, more powerful and newer fans.

The gym is well equipped and nice sitting areas. Nice breakfast.

Some of the staff were a bit off. Facilities in need of upgrading especially the rooms.

Loved the country location with all the animals. Beautiful gardens woth amazing flowers. Lovely decor amd my room had a four poster! Second time around in two years and we will be returning!

Maybe a larger breakfast spread. But that's jut me being picky as it is always a favourite part of any hotel stay - the opulence of the breakfast layout!

Venue was beautiful. Setting stunning. Food was good.

Disappointed with the room as although it was a great size and very clean, the furniture was old and tired.

Good place Lots of parking

Told on breakfast it was included in our price. Surprise payment before leaving for breakfast we were told was included. Receptionist was just rude and unapologetic. Food for wedding was good but for dinner was poor. Very expensive for bad food.

Our suite had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and the lounge was a quiet retreat at the end of busy days. The staff were outstanding, reception and bar staff particularly. We ate in the bar, which had a reasonable selection of food arriving promptly from the kitchens. Only a mile or so away from the park and ride to Chester and located in beautiful gardens, this is a great base for a city break or just to indulge and relax.

Just a little faded grandeur in evidence with older furnishings and small imperfections but this didn't affect our enjoyment of a great venue.
