LEGOLAND New York Resort

The theme room was okay. The kids liked it, as well as the themed halls, the playground castle, the free workshop to do a mini build, basically the fact that it was Lego themed was the best part.

The "free" breakfast was very limited. The family style eggs, breakfast meat and potatoes had serving sizes that meant the one skillet received for 5 people could have fed my one hungry adult nephew alone. You could order more but at a cost. There were included items at a buffet, but it was just a few cereals, toast (not even bagels or English. muffins), oranges and granny smith apples. Not even bananas, or clementines, or any other fruit... most kids I know don't eat granny smith apples and only one of my two kids like oranges. No yogurt, no granola, it was ridiculous. And it took a long time to be served, despite the reservation they make you make ahead of time. We were seated quickly but then basically felt ignored for a while as the servers tried to manage the family style food delivery. Also, we would have liked to have been told that we should pay attention for the in room scavenger hunt to be able to open the safe. We were told nothing and didn't find the paper until nearly check out and then didn't bother because we didn't know it was related to being able to open the safe and get a mini build.

The Hotel is so fun, even if you just stay in the Hotel, it will keep you kids busy with all fun stuff. The Room is as expected, full of fun for the kids. The Internet is fine, so we can still catch up with the work if needed.

The breakfast is free, but the tastes is just fair. And the option is so limited

The hotel was perfect for a family. The staff had exceptional good humor and patience, and we were comfortable with the kids being a little messy as kids will be. We loved the Treasure hunt provided in the room, the legos that the kids could play with in the room and in the lobby, the castle, the play area, the good natured staff, the pool. Really everything you could ask for with children.

Not much.

We liked the theming, large rooms, easy access to the park, staff. The disco elevators were fun. Bricks dinner was decent.

We were told if we wanted to leave the property during our stay, we'd have to pay $35 each time we passed the gates because we booked through a third party and they couldn't charge us the overnight parking fee, $35. Meanwhile, at the end of the stay, we did get charged parking so we were basically held hostage unless we wanted to pay extra to leave at leisure. Apparently, if you book through Legoland.com, you are allowed to leave at leisure. We paid over $500 for a room, we should not be held hostage because we booked elsewhere and then lied to that they wouldn't be able to charge parking, when the invoice clearly stated they charged for overnight parking.
