The Drift Inn

This is an attractively remodeled building in the historic area of Rupert. It was not originally a hotel so the place is a little quirky and has character but the room is comfortable. The bed and chairs were comfortable. The room was attractive. The bathroom was quite large and nice for a basic hotel room. It was very quiet except for the trains which they had no control over.

It was a little tricky checking in after hours. You do it by going into the bar and talking with the staff there. There was a phone number on the door to call so I tried that first and the first number resulted in a message with instructions and the second with a person who gave instructions. Both were polite and friendly. The staff in the bar were very nice. My only real complaint is they need to turn up the water heater. I could not get more than lukewarm water in the sink or shower which is really not very comfortable. There are a quite a few stairs and no elevator. This was no problem for me but would be or anyone with mobility challenges.

Good restaurant but CLOSED . Property did not notify us and no other place in town for dinner. All doors locked ; no number to call. When finally got ahold of someone, no appology. Coffee from last people still in machine. Our room next to kitchen and ice maker so noisy. STAIRS; we are ok with a few but not at least 20 steep stairs/ didn’t take our luggage up cuz too hard

no breakfast - but did have snack basket in kitchen nook - cleaning staff very pleasant

the mattress was very uncomfortable, lumpy and hard
