The position next to the vibrant promenade is brilliant. If you book a room on the front, it is a joy to watch the strollers and dog-walkers on the beach and promenade. It is a 1.5km walk to the bottom of the steps up to the church, passing very many restaurants and bars as you go.

They do not tell you that rooms of the same category have different configurations. So mine didn’t have a walk-in shower (which I needed) whereas the “sister room” did. They wouldn’t let me change rooms. I have visited this hotel many times, and the quality of the food has declined. Some dishes were still good, others were virtually inedible, like the pulpo gallega. Tough as boot leather …
