Hotel Punta Sur

The hotel reminded me of some of the wonderful early 70s resorts in Florida and the Bahamas, nice quality, full of charming details from the live peacocks and ducks walking around the waterfall and pond to the super kitch mosaic fireplace. And the restaurant was wonderful (breakfast and dinners.)

I had to think to find faults. I guess that the access to the beach right on front of the hotel requires walking through rusty fences and going down a pretty steep path. But that was fun, and nobody comes to that area to go to that tiny beach anyway. The real windsurfing beaches are two minutes away.

A great location near Tarifa and the beaches, with the possibility of seeing a wonderful sunset. Clean, comfortable and spacious rooms, with a bath, fridge and kettle (very important for tea)! Great continental style breakfast included, and although it’s not obvious, you can ask for extras like fried or scrambled eggs! Also nice with ducks and peacocks roaming in the grounds.

The only real disappointment for us, was opting to eat at their restaurant for convenience one evening, as the food really wasn’t that special. There are plenty of nicer/cheaper places nearby, such as El Franćes or Los Mellis in Tarifa.

Beautifully set in attractive gardens, with rooms scattered around the grounds. Perfect for visitors like us with a dog. Excellent restaurant

at Receotion - Otman was - it seemed - concerned that the room that had been allocated required going up a relatively steep incline - and changed our room, - very considerate room was very spacious

Breakfast - we have visited Punta Sur several times before - and the breakfasts were a VERY special occasion - big display and selection - NOT SO now ! Still quite good - but nothing - nothing like before
