Panorama-Hotel Winklerhof

Lovely hotel in quiet location on the outskirts of Holzgau. Children's play area to the front and a drinks terrace and sunbathing lawn. Very nice rooms but the absolutely outstanding feature was the food. Both the breakfast buffet and the 5 course evening meal were superb .Good parking.

Winklerhof is in an excellent location on the edge of the charming traditional village of Holzgau, set back from the valley road and next to green fields. You don’t need a car, as the valley bus service is so good, and like the cable cars, free with your guest pass. The valley floor is wide and flat with green fields and paved tracks for miles, ideal for cycling. There are many good mountain walks. The hotel is all you could ask for; big choice at breakfast, and five course excellent dinner. The owners are finding it very hard to get staff but gave everyone superb and friendly service. At the end of our six nights we did not want to leave. I had better not write any more in case it is full next time we want to visit!

Nothing we did not like! In sixty years of visiting the Alps of France, Italy and Austria, we have never stayed in a more restful and delightful place than Winklerhof in Holzgau, and that is honestly true.
