Beautiful setting , cosy rooms / bar area

We booked a table for dinner and were out in the dog section ( we don’t have a dog!) so we’re sat with a lot of big dogs the one next to us was particularly smelly

A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting

The restaurant is nice, expensive, but interesting elevated pub food. The property is beautiful and there are cows and horses outside the rooms. It is quiet and bucolic. The price is in line with other hotels of this quality but it is not 5 star.

The service was very poor when we arrived and also at our meals. The breakfast was tiny, and not that special or generous as were other hotels we stayed in on our trip. The facilities were not in line with a 5 star hotel. There was a plastic shower with the soap sitting on the ground and mold under the soap bottles and on them. The room was much smaller than claimed by the hotel. There was music playing into our room until 11pm. This would all have been ok, but this hotel is claiming to be 5 stars. This raised my expectations and I was very disappointed by an experience that fell far short of the other experiences we had on our trip at other hotels that were much better service, facilities, and experiences, but were not pretentious.

Full of character. Beautiful location. Very well presented. Staff so friendly and the food is amazing.

Base notes of speaker music from bar below can be heard in the room. Very tinny. Goes off at a reasonable time but does detract from a beautiful room. Surprised not to find a TV in the room but that did not detract from a fabulous stay.

The breakfast was exceptional! Beautiful location, lovely modern rooms converted from old buildings. Would definitely stay again in the future. Staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful.
