Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa

No soap in the bathroom, just an empty bottle. Breakfast not included in a £200 room. Coffee not very nice at breakfast.

The location was ideal for the Borders and beautiful and peaceful even though we are not golfers! There was an excellent breakfast and prompt attentive service from all the staff. The room and bed were very spacious with a fabulous view over the golf course. There were excellent bathroom facilities.

There was nothing not to like.

Breakfast was included in our hotel price, options for both continental and a cooked breakfast covered all bases, whilst the bulk of the cooked was buffet service, the eggs were chicken to order, overall, a great start to the day

Bed was very soft and I woke with back discomfort.

The child’s pull out bed had no bedding so had to go to reception and ask for it. The child kept hitting his legs of the metal surrounding the pull out bed everytime he was getting on and off the bed . Breakfast buffet was lukewarm , so not enjoyable. Locker at pool wouldn’t open so had to go to reception to get someone to come and open it, while children soaking and frozen

A real warm welcome from the staff which always helps as first impressions count! Room was very spacious, bedding was luxurious although found the mattress a little too firm. Ensuite was spotless and the shower simply gorgeous. Bar was well stocked and staff were very obliging with plentiful supply of ice for our room which was very welcome. Dining staff were obliging and polite, attentive but not intrusive. Meal was very nicely presented but perhaps I made the wrong choice on the menu as it wasnt to my taste. Lovely views from the bedroom as well as the lounge and dining areas. We didnt have time for the spa or gym but the pool was great and again, the staff were very nice and obliging.

On arrival we were met by a friendly staff member who checked us in and fully explained all the facilities. The room was clean and comfortable and after a meal and a drink in the lounge bar we retired back to our room and had a quiet and comfortable nights sleep. Breakfast the following morning was very good and check out was pleasant and easy.

A deluxe experience! Fabulous room with a huge bed, luxury bathroom, dressing gowns and slippers, lovely view, juliet balcony.Warm welcome from Alison. Spa, gym and pool available. Safe parking, bar and restaurant on site. Recommended!

Minor issue - headboard fabric needs replacing..

Lovely breakfast with a super choice and food very fresh. Was disappointed that the fresh fruit salad was only available on one of the mornings though instead of two. Very helpful front of house staff especially Val. Beautiful outlook from room to golf course. Adequate parking.

There were ripped armchairs in our room which had definitely seen better days. Black marks in the walls and dust you could write your name on both on top of the bed frame and the television stand. The dust was so bad that we both had to take extra antihistamines. The Television just switched off whilst watching it and the WiFi was dreadful, nit ideal when you run a business and gave to keep an eye on what is going on. Would strongly advise installing Starlink for such a remote area. For hotels if this calibre we expected so much more.
