Hotel Zum Goldenen Mann

The attached cafe / bakery and breakfast sitting outside. The accommodation is as expected basic, but recently refurbished and very modern in that. The owners are very approachable nice and supportive people.

Ja, frühstück war sehr gut, die Lage sehr Zentral. It was very calm and not loudy at all which was good! We had a nice few days durin hard times in our lives since we where on a funural. But all in all it was good, thank you so much and see you another time. Very good that there where a fridge whit mineralwater and som drinks since it was warm it was neccessary to drink a lot.

The room could have been better also since very warm and we only had a fan not aircondition. On the saturday it was no room cleaning which was a minus for us. so no new towals on the next day which was needed to us. But anyway it worked for us since we had our other towels left in the room :) The bed was ok comfty not super.

The property was downtown Rastatt, which was a good location, next to a palace. I loved that the cafe was right on the property. We got in about 8pm, the hottest day of the year. It was about 95 degrees. Germany was having a heatwave. We just wanted to get into our rooms and get some relief from the heat. I requested well in advance air conditioning rooms. When we got there we had to carry all of our luggage up 4 flight of stairs, NO ELEVATOR! The rooms were beautifully decorated. This was a historical hotel from the 1700’s. All the rooms that we booked had AC. Of course one room, the AC wasn’t working. You could not sleep in it, too hot. The host moved my son Will and Sarah to a downstairs room which was a bit cooler but no AC.

Even though we had AC. The one room where the AC wasn’t working couldn’t be fixed until next week. The repair man was booked until then. The host was not accommodating enough. He just kept saying I can’t change it. The kids ended up sleeping in another large room that actually had AC. They took their mattresses to the other room and had a sleepover. In the morning, they put everything back. The host got mad at me for that.

The hotel was really cozy and comfortable. I loved the room decoration, the beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was perfect! The breakfast was really good too.

The only two things I did not like much was that we did not have a great variety of breakfast options, and that there was no mini fridge inside the room.
