Tricky's Hotel

I have stayed at Tricky's many times in the past and today was another one of those times. Its a nice hotel, rooms are comfortable, access is easy and parking is ample. Food at the bar is good and this time breakfast was in the bar and not the garden room which was OK, quality was good and better with the buffet service.

The reception is not manned outside of office times and you still need to get the key from the bar which is not so pleasant when its raining. The rooms are a bit cold and not very warm unless the heating is on.

Nice bar area. Decent breakfast. Spacious car park. Very nice people working there. Central location inbetween most iconic parts of Cornwall makes it a perfect base if you want to see them all during one visit.

There was a bad smell in the room - almost unbearable at the end of our 4 night stay. Stains on the ceiling like if there was some leak? We had a room service every day topping up tea, sugars etc but our used dirty towels were not replaced and I had to chase housekeepers to give us the clean ones. Windows of our ground floor room faced the car park so our choice was aither to resign from our privacy or suffer this bad smell of the room with curtains closed. We reaaly liked the staff so Im adding this negative review with a heavy heart. Please do something with this smell

The onsite pub, food and staff were excellent and the room was clean.

The drain was blocked in the wet room shower so very slow at draining causing the whole bathroom to flood and room rate was quite pricey for 1 nights stay.

Having to be out by 10am when breakfast is 9-10

We booked 2 rooms. They were good value for money as the price included breakfast. The rooms were basic but quiet and clean, apart from mould in the ensuite of one room and smell of mould in the other. There was a nice pub close by with a friendly staff and live music on Friday night. The location was convenient for exploring Cornwall by a car. There was ample parking outside of the hotel.

Stayed for work with my wife and dog for work and great that places allow furry friends. Great location and rooms are basic but confirtable and a good base to explore the local area including Perranporth beach. Allthough due to work i was unable to explore much. Drinks in the bar were very reasonable, with a nice beer garden. Rooms are basic but comfortable.
