The Castle Hotel

Excellent location within walking distance from the town centre.

There was no one on arrival, the door was locked, I had to ring the phone number twice, but eventually someone came out of a private property next door and unlocked the hotel for us. The lack of air conditioning was a definite discomfort in the heat. There was a musty, sweaty whiff in the rooms and coming off the pillows. There was no chair in the room that I could use to sit and work at the small table (I had brought a laptop to finish some stuff). The mini fridge was not plugged in, therefore not working. The common room, which also doubled as a reception and a small restaurant, was out of bounds for guests as it had to be locked by the housekeeping staff. They also could not sell me any cold drink, nothing available there. It is a neighbourhood of residential houses, so be prepared for noises from DIY works and people chatting loudly under the wide open window (no other way to keep the room cool) at 8am. We were given two keys, and had to lock the awkward outside door every time we left the hotel. We didn't see anyone else apart from the housekeeping lady until the end of our stay. On the final day, we were told there was nowhere to store our luggage until departure later in the day. Overall, I would not stay there again.

It was hot in the room and fan or AC would be great. Solution is opened window during night time.
