White House Residency

The property was nice. The room was clean and had a soft bed with a duvet rather than just a sheet which was glorious after a month of sleeping on hard beds. There was a little terrace out the back with chairs and a table. The ceiling fan worked really well. The best bit was the host - he was a lovely man who was so helpful and friendly.

The bed sheets were scratchy where they had bobbled which made the uncomfortable to sleep on. There was some mould on the walls in the bathroom which had been wiped - wasn’t surprising considering little ventilation and seems to be generally the case in most places. There’s no kettle in the room but the owner did say he was happy to boil water for us if we wanted it.

Great value, exceptionally clean, really pleasant and helpful staff.

It wasn’t on the North Cliff beach but only a very short walk away and quieter.

La camera ampia e pulita , in India non è scontato . Il personale gentile e sempre a disposizione . L’aria condizionata funzionava perfettamente.

Da migliorare il terrazzo per fare le lezioni di Yoga , nel terrazzo c’è anche la cucina , quindi è rumoroso e la strada passa troppo vicino , si sentono tutti i clacson suonare di continuo . Per il resto la struttura è nuova , vicina al cliff .

I had a really tough experience at Varkala, and I was quite let down by my stay at White House Residency and that too from the owner of the property. They unexpectedly tried to add a 2% fee for using a bank debit card, which they never mentioned when I booked. When I asked for toiletries, the response was quite rude, saying they don’t provide them during peak season. To make matters worse, the owner seemed unhappy, especially since I booked a room at a lower rate through Booking.com, which seemed to give them a reason to treat us poorly. Our air conditioning in one of the rooms was broken, and instead of helping us, they responded with a shockingly rude comment like, "Don't you people come from Kerala? Why can't you tolerate heat?" Instead of addressing our issue, they just made jokes. This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable. They offered us a refund but the struggle to get what we were entitled to was too much. On a brighter note, the breakfast was the only highlight. It was simple and basic but limited. Still, that doesn’t make up for the lack of welcome, comfort, and respect we experienced. If you’re hoping for a pleasant stay in Varkala, I strongly advise against this place. There are definitely better options nearby that will treat you with the respect you deserve.
