Haven Alleppey Beach Resort

The one positive from Haven was the staff that ran breakfast were friendly, and happy to try and help. A shame they were constrained by the environment within which they were working.

Alleppey Haven Beach Villa is not a hotel. It is a homestay aspiring to be a hotel. How it shows up as a top-ranking hotel in Alleppey then is a mystery. There are clearly fake/paid-for reviews on other travel sites, based upon our experience of the accommodation when we stayed there for five nights. Misleading photographs on booking sites taken with either a wide-angle or fish-eye lens - the rooms in reality are nothing like as big as the impression you get from the pictures - very small and cramped, with very poor facilities and inconsistent wifi (it would fail to work as often as it worked). A "restaurant" that really isn't - breakfast, despite the staff's attempts, was almost cold, with the limited range of breakfast food left uncovered for the flies to take advantage of. Our room was serviced once during the five days we were there. The daily ask for loo rolls etc made you wonder why they didn't think about coming to service the room itself. The pool is falling to bits with a lot of the tiling having failed (and upon which I sliced my toe open) with matting in the pool to cover it. It has unsafe lighting by the side of it, patched together with electrical tape. There are no parasols (despite them being in their promotional photos) meaning you can't use the pool area during a lot of the day as there is no shade. Extensive building work taking place generating noise and dust all through the day, with advertised facilities being blocked off and builders burning their rubbish next to the pool area. The beach a couple of minutes walk away is a beach, but it's not a beach you would want to use - zero tourist facilities, covered in rubbish. Finally, the "debate" on check-in over the surprise 5% surcharge they want to charge for paying by card - effectively making Haven more expensive than other more superior accommodation in the area.

The location of the hotel is very nice, just one street away from the beach, the staff was very polite and helpful, the food was also quite good in terms of taste and quality.

The villa is a near by beach resort which is developing a lot. The rooms had a unique antique design of bed arrangements and the staffs were very helpful. The food was great with the authentic taste unique to Kerala. I went with my mother, sister, father and they have helped with the traveling around the town and also they have a very beautiful pool area. The villa also has a garden area where you can walk and have coffee tea. The beach is very near like within 10 mins of walking and we can walk from this beach towards the main beach of Allepy.

Clint the hotel manager was great and super friendly - he accommodated our every need and was always there to suggest activities and check in with us. The breakfasts were also amazing and everyday it was a pleasure to have them.

We went during a festival at the church near the hotel and they played incredibly loud music in the middle of the night and throughout the day, it was not the hotel’s fault but unlucky timing on our side.

Friendly and helpful staff. Nice swimming pool. Generally a clean and cosy place to stay. Good breakfast.

Large and comfortable rooms with modern amenities (including a good shower). The included breakfast and pool were also great. The staff were fantastic and very helpful, especially Clint at front desk and Sajit/Joseph at the restaurant.

The price we actually paid was a lot more than the price on Booking.com - apparently due to taxes and card fees. That might all be legitimate but this needs to be better communicated at the time of booking.
