Hotel The Savode - Just 2 Mins From Golden Temple Amritsar

Location - it was a 2 min walk to the Maharaja Ranjit Singh statue but a 10 min -15 min walk to the Golden Temple. It was a safe walk there which is great for a solo female. The hotel was very clean and the staff were wonderful!, very accommodating. Breakfast had a great selection and the food was delicious.

The room didn't have any windows - which was shame as I like natural light. So on the Booking website it. said you have to pay at the property, which is fine then I had whatsapp messages claiming to be from the hotel bugging me to click on a link to pay them money! I told them several times that I booked via booking and would not be securing my room by clicking on some random link and that Booking have my details. I was so annoyed I was tempted to cancel the booking! They shouldn't have a pay at the property option if you are going to start pestering people personally outside the Booking communication system. I would like to pay when I book but they didn't have that option. I paid at the property and never sent my bank details via an outside whatspp group.

Walking distance to the Golden Temple

The staff during checkout tried to cheat us. When we asked wat was the room fee payable, he said 48,900 rupees. 4 of us adults including the manager who was sitting down heard this. We knew this was not the correct rate and showed him the booking.com information. It was supposed to be inr 28,830 plus. He then said that it is correct. Then we told him that he quoted 48,900 instead. He said no he didnt say that, he said he quoted 28 830. He was blatantly lying! He was trying to cheat thinking that we didnt know the actual rate, so he could anyhow quote a wrong figure and cheat us. We have 5 witnesses, including the manager. This is so unethical. We are very disappointed by your staff. The manager sitting down knew that his colleague was lying, it was so obvious! We know that staff like to overcharge, but we didnt expect your organisation to do this, considering that over the 4 days we stayed there, we gave a lot of tips to the doorman, the porter, the breakfast staff. We tipped way way tooo much to your staff. And you have the cheek to try to cheat us!! So insincere and shameless of you all! Very bad attitude!!!!!

One pleasant surprise was the chai. I rarely like chai at most places, but here it was truly the star of the show for me. The room service was excellent, and the staff did a really nice job ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Location, its very close to the Gurudwara Coridor (not 2 minutes as mentioned still close enough like 15 mins walk)

The rooms did not impress me much. All the rooms appeared to be the same size, so it’s unclear why I paid more for a Standard or Deluxe room. The rooms also did not smell very pleasant, which added to the discomfort. I was particularly disappointed by the misinformation—there is no hair dryer or refrigerator in the rooms, despite expectations set otherwise. however staff was kind enough to help us give what we needed

Location

Rooms were too small. Even no space for keeping bags. Beds were just fit in. No place to walk. As usual hot water was an issue and TV. Got it resolved later. Food was average. Asked for egg noodles but got veg one. Location for Golden temple was superb.

Easy to leave, amenable manager

It wasn't clean. There was dried human snot on the walls, the sheets were stained and not clean and the bathroom was filthy. We had to check out after one night

Room size was too small, quality of towels was bad, no coffee sache available in room, TV did not work at all even after your staff assistance and breakfast menu was very limited
