Great value, exceptionably clean, best location, handy to everything, we had a balcony, just the best, handy to public transportation

Nothing at all

The establishment is both a pub/restaurant and a place to stay, with a mix of longer-term "residents" and short-term stayers "guests" like me. The atmosphere is friendly, but people are not nosey. There are plenty of bathrooms which are communally shared, containing toilet, washbasin and shower ("three-quarter bathrooms"). There is no "bathroom queue"! :-) The laundry facility is paid for using coins and the responsibility is the guest's. Clean, effective washing and drying. Breakfast is available in the communal kitchen from the fridge marked "Guests". This suited me fine as I had to go to meetings early (6am for a 7am start) and thus could have my breakfast when I returned. :-) One hint of what the atmosphere is like was the response of the owner, Barry O'Shaugnessy, to my lugging my suitcase up the narrow outside stairway which serves as the fire escape and the closest entrance from the car park: he suggested he carry the suitcase for me! Much appreciated!

Great location in central Howick, room was very clean and tidy

Nothing really only stayed the one night and all was good

I didn’t eat any breakfast but the selections were fine. Clean bathrooms.

I won’t stay again because of the stairs. I have an arthritic knee and the climb up and down was just too much. Carpet in hallway has seen better days and those poor artificial plants could do with a good soak in soapy water!
