Shadow Surf Bay

Really nice owner, beautiful garden, near to the Silent Beach, very good breakfast (they made it all vegetarian for us). We had a great stay!

We had a wonderful stay. The property is uniquely beautiful, with a lush tropical garden filled with squirrels and peacocks. The view from that terrace will from now on be one of my favourite travel moments. We were met with such hospitality and kindness, truly a pleasurable experience. Make sure you arrange a dinner at the property! It was so delicious.

The location and room itself were great. The breakfast were very good with big portions. The staff was very nice and flexible, helping with whatever I needed.

Shadow Surf is a wonderful house in a beautiful setting. The facilities are ideal with a very comfy big bed, small kitchenette and well fitted bathroom with hot shower. Set in a stunning tropical garden with beautiful birds and squirrels everywhere, even the occasional monkey and snake come past to see what’s happening as you sit on the comfy loungers outside. Close by are numerous good local shops and places to eat we really enjoyed Pubudu’s Sri Lankan curry next door and a 5 minute walk to Secret Beach which is the most stunning and quiet tropical beach gives you a few seafood restaurants for after a washing in the shorebreak (it gets wild). It’s so quiet and peaceful in Shadow we enjoyed being able to grab a tuk tuk into Tangalle (5 mins) of Dickwella and Hiriketiya (10 mins) and return to our tropical oasis. Pradeep and his wife whom are the hosts are simply amazing. Breakfast is nothing short of a banquet with enough food provided to be put in the fridge and enjoyed for lunch and even dinner later. They are incredibly polite and friendly and just really nice people to chat with about local life and gain pointers of what’s happening locally. A 30 second walk from the beach and a great surf break, we came for 4 days and stayed for 2 weeks and will definitely be coming back in the future.

Nothing to dislike

Shadow Surf Bay was absolutely wonderful and every consideration was given to my comfort, from suggesting where to visit, to bringing me fresh coconut, to supplying facilities for clothes washing, even getting up to see me off at 5.30am! The food was absolutely stunning, and I am now addicted to egg hoppers with avocado and chilli 😄 Shadow Surf Bay is a quiet accommodation just back from the beach with places to relax outside the room.

From arrival we were treated like royalty. Sumptuous breakfasts, fabulous gardens and the beach on our doorstep. Turtles swimming in the water was a highlight. Pradeep took charge to organise trips to other beaches, fishing trip, tuk tuks, train guidance and train transfers. The hospitality was unparalleled in its generosity. Fish caught were cooked and served to perfection. We had great conversations and laughs. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Fantastic breakfast with brilliant hospitality. The location is brilliant, just a couple of minutes walk to the beach. We will definitely be staying again.

My favorite stay in Sri Lanka so far! Very clean room, very comfortable bed and pillows and delicious big breakfast. There are only two rooms surrounded by a beautiful garden and 50 meters away from a small beach. The host is the nicest person and will do everything to welcome you! The area is so calm and Silent Beach at walking distance is the best to chill and rest.
