Smelled of smoke , had crisps all over the room was dirty, cold , damp, noisy

Well organised, spacious room and ensuite bathroom. Comfortable bed, slept well. Lunch was great.

Only a minor issue, a few creaking floorboards.

No breakfast. No evening meal on one day as the chef was sent home early because the pub was quiet.

Fire alarm went off at 7am one morning. The fire brigade were summoned. They could find no fire. There was no contact number for a member of staff and consequently the alarm continued to blare until 9.15 am when a member of staff finally arrived to get a key to turn it off. She didnt know how to turn it off and a guest managed to do it. And all because one fella had decided to smoke a cigarette in his room. No staff on premises after pub closing time.

Beds were very comfortable, staff reasonably friendly, great location and price

but the room was filthy. The previous occupants business was still in the toilet, the mirror covered in spatters of toothpaste or soap, dirty towels behind the door, blood on the shower wall it was disgusting. Obviously hadn’t been cleaned. Beds were clean though. Tea stains on the kettle base and table, stained mugs. If my eyes hadn’t been watering for the toilet after our four hour drive to get there I would’ve complained immediately - but I was exhausted and couldn’t do with the hassle so we flushed it, cleaned it and went out. Hopefully for the hotel it was an oversight, maybe they got distracted whilst cleaning.
