I’ve spent several weeks in this area and stayed at multiple hotels. Hotel Berghof is by far the best. The owner is fantastic. The breakfast is very good. The rooms modern. There really is no downside here.

Location is central meaning walking get distance to everything you could need. Staff were friendly upon arrival willing get out speak German or English. Rooms are slightly more than basic, but for business purposes and cost/value are more than sufficient.

The double beds consist of 2 single beds, so as a couple there is gab between the both of you. In some rooms is a coffee machine but without mugs or spoons, so it's not really thought through. I would have stayed longer, but it's more for a couple of nights. Especially in winter the night was very cold. There is a heater that goes off automatically so make sure you request an additional heater if you are very cold in general. I prefer air bnb for longer then 3 nights. The keys are given 24 hours so that's a plus. The owner is always nearby, that's nice too. But long term, no. In the parking area there is lots of rubbish, like old furniture etc. The idea of having a minibar (with beer etc) in the stairway is new and nice. No elevator tho. So you have to drag your suitcases up the 3rd floor if no rooms are available below the 3rd floor.

I had to attend a 2 day event in the area and stayed here. A typical German hotel. For some reason they want to have small blankets, but at least it also had a cover. Plenty of hot water, good wifi, they included breakfast, but I had to leave early each morning of my stay. The hotel doesn't do dinner currently. Plenty of options close by so this wasn't an inconvenience. Clean sheets, towels, room had a mini fridge and kettle. Downstairs is a small fridge with drinks, honor system. I would stay here again when I travel to Baumholder.

I've never traveled to Germany before and I was lured to Hotel Berghof based on pictures and reviews. Getting in late to a small hotel can be a challenge but Hotel Berghof was very accommodating. Check in was smooth, my room was ready and waiting my arrival. I felt welcomed and enjoyed my first German beer moments after check in. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Breakfast every morning was something I could count on with fresh cooked eggs and bacon and a delicious buffet of local meats and cheeses, always fresh orange juice and the best coffee. I loved the rain shower head in my small bathroom. I felt safe going and coming during the day which was very important to me as a woman traveling alone. The supper buffet was delicious and I wish I could have it again soon and often. The night of my arrival they were serving BBQ ribs. The night they served schnitzels the dining room was full. All day I could hear the chef pounding and tenderizing the pork cutlets. It makes my mouth water to remember the deliciousness. There were many private Christmas parties during the week I was there that did interfere with supper service, but I knew in advance which nights they were. The parties were enviable. Staying in the hotel and being curious by nature I observed some of the groups. The food was stunning. One dessert was a star shaped tiramisu dusted by cocoa powder. On my day of departure several staff members stopped to thank me for my stay and asked if I had enjoyed myself and wished me safe travels. If I return to Baumholder I will definitely stay with Hotel Berghof again.

The Hotel Berghoff is an excellent, small and friendly, hotel. It is quiet and convenient to the town. I had a double room which was large, and the bathroom was extremely clean and modern. A mini-fridge, electric kettle, wifi, and tv with a few English language stations were included and appreciated. The owners and staff were very helpful, especially since I am English-speaking only. The Hotel Berghoff is known--for good reason--for it's restaurant. A breakfast buffet was included with the room, and it was very good, and very convenient. Dinner is served buffet style with a featured entree per night--be sure to try the several types of schnitzel served on Mondays--that is plentiful, delicious, and reasonably priced. We also ate there on all-you-can-eat pasta night--so popular they had to open a second dining room! The train station is a short walk from the hotel. Be prepared, it is uphill from the station to the old town--doable with one suitcase, but not much fun if you are struggling with more. The Hotel Berghoff called a taxi for me when it was time for me to leave to go to the station; it arrived very quickly and was worth the 5 Euros spent to be sure that I got to the station on time and in one piece.

While my room was on the smaller side, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very accommodating for our large group, and did everything they could to make sure we were comfortable. Dieter, one of the gentleman at the front desk, is super friendly and great to talk with. The restaurant has great food, everything from schnitzel night to all you can eat ribs. We never once had a bad meal there. WiFi was average.
