The Black Swan Inn

The property is old but the owners have maintained and updated it really well. All staff are friendly and very helpful. The rooms are very clean and well maintained with lots of added extras. There is free parking too a bonus

I hadn't appreciated that dinner was not available mid week due to staff issues - I'll accept that this was an oversight on my behalf and was able to dine elsewhere. On the first night , having dined elsewhere I returned to the hotel for the proverbial "nightcap"to find a notice on the front door " closed due to unforeseen circumstances" would residents please use the rear door - no problem ! Upon entering the bar there was a couple enjoying a drink - they explained that the proprietors had gone out for a meal (unforeseen circumstances ??) and that the bar was shut - no staff on the premises at all . To say that I was both unimpressed and annoyed would be an understatement - to the proprietors - please take this as constructive criticism , but having paid £125.00 B & B for single occupancy I really expect something better .

Beautifully and sympathetically refurbished old inn building. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location in central Pickering.

Lovely building fabulous bar area with a cocktail bar outside the rear. Free parking. Everything you needed in the bedroom, beautiful cotton bedding and air condition room. Wonderful toiletries.

Would’ve preferred HDTV .

Lovely place to stay. Very friendly staff. The room was comfortable and very clean. Well stocked refreshments tray with water, tea, coffee and hot chocolate and lovely cookies! Breakfast was plentiful and absolutely delicious. With quality local produce. I would definitely recommend staying at the black swan. The location couldn't be more central. Excellent stay.
