Hotel de la Paix

This was a repeat visit for husband & friend. On a short annual motorcycle tour, they were welcomed with the usual great hospitality & convenience of location, & comfort. Parking was behind building & secure. Looking forward to staying again.

Absolute fantastic host, hospitality and breakfast. Bikepacking from UK fo Belgium via France and first night did not disappoint. Excellent facilties to store bikes and the most lovely host

Nothing at alll

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment which was so nice for our family of 4. Super clean and recently remodeled. Great location right in the town square with easy free parking nearby. Friday morning market in the square was fantastic! Best of all were the hotel staff. Easy to reach any time by phone and SO helpful; we had ebikes delivered and they were so nice to help us with managing drop off and pick up, plus storage. Highly recommend!

The hotel is very well situated, directly on the Grote Markt in the city center and easily reachable from the train station by foot. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even though they were often not at the front desk, you could find them in the restaurant nearby. The room was equipped with a coffee machine, a fridge and all kinds of appliances in the bathroom, which might be needed. The food at their restaurant is also very good. I would definitively return.

If you are sensitive to noise, this might not be the best location. My room was facing the Grote Markt and had a nice view, but I could hear a lot of the noise going on there. Since I was the off-season and not during the weekend, it was fine. Not sure how it would be later in the week, when they also have their market on the square. Additionally, you can hear all the noises from the staircase as well. The bed itself was comfy, but I would have liked an alternative pillow to chose from, I found the one they had a bit too hard (I did not ask for another, though, it is possible they have options).

Nice and central, good base got trips out to St. Bernardus and St. Sixtus. Great Gastrobar (Cirk) walking distance, as well as GAST. Lovely rooftop terrace in our room.

No lift - stairs only.

This is a newly refurbished lovely boutique hotel. Lovely little touches throughout the hotel and the room and bathroom. The bath was big enough to swim in!

Being British I would have loved a kettle and some breakfast tea but its very common throughout France not to have these items so next time I will be prepared!
