Neth Socheata Hotel

The hotel is located next to the old market and pub street. It made the location great for quick shopping and an easy walk after a long night of pub crawling. The restaurant right next to the hotel is also amazing. Staff is super friendly.

The location is perfect! Rooms are very clean and I liked that you get water in glass bottles rather then plastic. Friendly and helpful staff. The air-conditioning didn't work in the room I first booked and it also didn't have a fridge and tv as stated so I was upgraded to a better room where the air-conditioning worked fine!

Power kept cutting out sometimes a little annoying. Didn't really have hot water in the shower because it only worked with very little pressure. Great pressure for cold shower though. I booked a tuk tuk driver twice through the hotel to go to the temples and had a bad experience mainly on the second day. When I told the staff about this I was told they knew about "this guy". I paid 20$ and was picked up 9am as per request rather than 8am. The driver took me to the first temple and said I probably would be there 1-1.5 hours. Ok I thought nice I'll just take my time. 40 minutes in he came looking for me and I felt stressed because it felt like he wanted me to go faster. And as a solo female traveler I didn't want to hang out with the driver. Then the driver kept saying that I'd be finished probably 1pm and he also kept mentioning lunch all the time as I was expected to buy him lunch or maybe eat with him. Anyway I finished the "big tour" at around 12.30 and wanted to use the time to see more. I asked the driver to take me to a museum but according to him it was to far.. So I suggested going to Ankor Wat again and that was fine. But when I also suggested the killing fields after ankor wat he laughed at me while talking to another driver and I took it personally because I could sense that he was annoyed by me. So I ended up skipping Ankor wat (went there first day) and just going to the killing fields and finishing the day around 1.30 pm.. Gave the guy a tip and regret it afterwards because he made me feel really uncomfortable all day. The reason I'm writing this here is that I suggest that you book your drivers elsewhere to assure you get a good experience. There's plenty on the streets just walk around and talk to them. My driver day one was ok but also felt like he was annoyed by me at the end asking for one more stop.

Great stay right in the heart of town, with the old market on your doorstep and the riverside area too, plus short walk across the river to Wat Bo area, recently voted third top neighbourhood in the world. Pub Street is only a couple of streets away as well so handy if you to visit that but then again you didn’t hear it at night so the best of both worlds! The hotel is situated along an alley in the heart of a block so you can go one way or another towards the market or riverside and I always felt safe there plus there is someone in reception day and night. A big shout out to the friendly and helpful staff - Chunny and Sotnim (excuse spellings) in particular who were super lovely to talk to. There are plentiful restaurants round about to choose from to your liking including oddly enough a Greek one (Elia) but it was yummy! Khmer Kitchen is close by too, also good food, reasonable prices and big portions. Other points to note: the bed and pillows were very comfy, there was a kettle for a cup of tea, my room was cleaned daily, and great to see how environmentally friendly they were in providing fresh drinking water replenished in glasses bottles rather than plastic!
