The owners Gary and his wife do such a good thing for charity. They teach and give the girls who work there a job. Part of their income goes to heartprint. (Look at internet). The room is beautiful and they serve a delicious breakfast. I realy recomment this place.

Absolutely everything. Very kind and helpful owners, the staff super nice and smiling, and price-quality rate is excellent here. Thanks Gary and Wendy for making our stay really nice, and for all the kind details. They organised a driver to pick us up at arrival from the brand new airport for 30$, and they have a great tuk tuk driver available for a full day of visiting Angkor temples for 20$. Thank you Mr Ratha for driving us around, you are the best! The double bedroom at The Bygone is huge, with the bed supercomfy, plus a big nice bathroom, excellent wifi and aircon and little fridge. The breakfast was also included and lovely, with local fruits. The swimming pool is great for relaxing after a long day around Angkor. The hotel location is good too, walking distance to markets and restaurants, or a short tuk tuk ride away. Thanks again for the great memories!

We thoroughly recommend The Bygone - all the staff are really friendly and so helpful. It has a very relaxed atmosphere, very clean, and superb food and drinks in the cafe. Garry and Wendy are very inspirational in their charity work called Heartprint. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The property was so clean, the staff were very kind and the owners were very also incredibly generous with their time. It really felt like a secret hideaway. We’re traveling during low season so we get a lot more attention. We didn’t need anything! Gary & Wendy the owners have really big hearts and are trying to help the local Cambodians. The Bygone is their side project/home but they’re doing some wonderful work to help the locals. By staying with them, you can support their work/cause. Even if that’s not your prerogative, it’s a beautiful little boutique-like hotel and I’d recommend anyone to stay here over a huge hotel.

This is a very special place to stay that is helping local people in Siem Reap through their charity Heartprint. Its relaxing, serves great food & drink (we ate all 3 meals there one day) and you are looked after so well. Gary and Wendy have great recommendations and helped us book our temple guide and driver as-well as Phare Circus tickets. They’ll tell you about other social enterprises in town to support and go out of their way to ensure you enjoy yourself. You’re treated like family but are also given plenty of space to relax. I will be recommending this place to everyone who comes to Cambodia!

I loved the ethos and values of excellence and social justice and how helpful all staff were to make me feel welcome and meet all my needs to make this a memorable stay. I was in safe expert hands.

wonderful staff, everyone has a smile. feels like home. personal feel, owners are wonderful people supporting the local community. a wonderful welcome, a comfortable vibe, quiet, relaxing getaway. easy transport to downtown, airport and Angkor Wat. definitely recommend if you want a break from the big hotels and a home away from home feeling.

We went to Cambodia to see some amazing sites, and met two amazing people, Garry and Wendy O'Brien, the proprietors of The Bygone. The Bygone is not a marble and glass monstrosity, but a very comfortable, well maintained hotel in central Siem Reap. The staff are always helpful, smiling, and treated as 'family'. Garry and Wendy are friendly, laid-back, hard working Aussies who are improving the lives of Cambodians by giving them a hand-up with employment, education, and by founding and administrating a non-profit organization called HeartPrint, a not for profit, non religious organization committed to improving living standards of underprivileged families in Cambodia. There should be a separate set of ratings for The Bygone starting at 11 and up. This was the best experience we've ever had renting a hotel in our decades of travel.

Certainly not a negative, but it was difficult saying goodbye.
