Lumen Nature Retreat

The details & design were more than we expected. The complex is very nice and the showers were fine (we are not used to sharing the bath. But for this setting it was more than we expected). The water sound from the river and outdoors seating are great. Parking is the best.

Main problem besides the cancellation policy is that in the queen tents there is not much space (to prepare food & eat) in case it rains. I feel that the bath is not large enough for crowded days (considering coming back during the fall). The team is not on site and when we asked a question by e-mail the automatic answer did not help us (regarding recommendations in the area). I also got too many emails with the same info confirming the reservation. Would like glass shower doors better than curtains and a place to put my soaps etc.

Very calm place best sleep I ever had! The river is very pretty everything is in a close range Everything is clean and well maintained.

We like the location and the cabin was a nice modern Nordic style.

We did not like that the bathrooms and showers were separate from our cabin. It was not nice walking to use the toilet in the middle of the night in the dark. Both bed were uncomfortable and we did not like having to wash our dishes in the separate bath house because there was no sink or running water in or at our cabin site.

Beautiful and unique spot. We were looking for a place to spend the typically busy February vacation week that wouldn't break the bank. Enter Lumen. The cabins are really lovely and very nordic in style. Our 4-year-old was obsessed with his loft bed. The kitchen was well-appointed and the induction cooktop was very easy to use and clean. The location was great for us-- about 25 minutes from Waterville Valley where we skied. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the bathhouse and appreciated the bathroom amenities!

We had difficulty with the indoor le feu fireplace and ended up getting covered in soot instead of enjoying the smokeless fire. Also a bummer that we had to purchase our own fuel ($10).
