Excellent food and friendly staff

The location is great. The hotel has comfortable and clean rooms. The staff are absolutely fantastic! They do not stand on formality, and even though we arrived in the night much later than expected, the owner stayed up to check us in. He also showed us all the room features. We also found complimentary water in the fridge. My sister and I enjoyed the garden. Furthermore, we could tell the staff when we would like breakfast and dinner. A major (pleasant) surprise was the dinner: we loved all the dishes we chose, and furthermore, with the main (pasta) dishes we were complimented with a "companion" serve ("di rinforzo"), essentially a second serve (:)). The appetizer, a carpaccio of salmon with mango as garnish, could have been served in a Michelin restaurant. Overall, the hospitality was excellent, the food very satisfying, the place was quiet, and the landscape around the hotel is certainly worth the trip. One thing important to mention when traveling to the location in summer: the temperatures were high all the time, but in the evening there was a nice little breeze, and the air-conditioning in the room worked perfectly.

Four unimportant issues, but these were part of the experience. (1) We forgot to ask the owner (who checked us in) to turn on the TV set to verify that it all was in working order. After he left after showing us to the room, we tried to watch it, but we were not able to see any live TV, and we could not hear any sound when we connected to Netflix. We were not able to find or fix the problem. I have been staying in a number of hotels of different categories and in different regions, and I am surprised that there almost always seems to be problems with the TV sets in Italy (not just here): I now anticipate that live TV cannot be seen, and I cannot understand why this is happening. (Not only here at Solelago) - perhaps my recommendation would be to always check that everything is in working order when new guests check in a room, including the TV set. (2) Initial supplies in the room were exactly numbered, e.g., two small plastic cups for two people: having broken one of the cups, which fell on the floor, we were left with one. However, this was easily solved when we mentioned this to the staff in the morning, who left more cups in the room when they cleaned. (3) There was not enough space where to place our things, e.g., toiletries, no cups for toothbrush etc., and not enough hooks for towels in the bathroom. Therefore, we had to leave our essential items, which should be handy, in our luggage, and towels did not dry up properly after each use. (4) The power points were few and inconveniently located. It took some imagination to be able to recharge our cell phones.

Exceptionally clean facilities and attentive staff.

Breakfast was very "continental" in that it was bread and cake. No proteins offered.

Attentive staff, very clean rooms, excellent restaurant for seafood, and pretty good location.
