Lake Wave Hotel

Actually let me sum this up for you: -perfect room, clean, airco, small balcony (+view lake) -food 10/10 -hospitality 11/10 -small clothing shop (owners mom), self-made/sewn --> Etihad had our luggage so we were forced to buy clothes but my god was this the most friendly woman in Sri Lanka, even adapted a dress to my size and with the leftovers made a hair band for free. -nice walk around the lake -market acrosse the lake worth visiting -GO HERE.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Lake Wave Hotel, thanks in large part to the young owner, Milan. He went above and beyond to make our family of five feel welcome and well-cared for. On the spot and short notice, Milan expertly arranged perfectly suited excursions for us both within and around Anuradhapura. After our adventures, we were treated to delicious dinner and breakfast options. Highlights included the flavorful Jackfruit curry, breadfruit curry, and string hoppers, all served with tasty sambal and roti. Every meal was truly special and delicious! Beyond the fantastic food and excursions, Milan even took the time to teach "us boys" how to excel at billiards – a fun and unexpected bonus. The hotel's location is also ideal, with a 2.5 km footpath surrounding a beautiful lake situated right between the hotel and the water. It was perfect for an early morning run. We will definitely be staying at Lake Wave Hotel again on our next visit to Anuradhapura.

We should have stayed longer.

Lovely spot next to the lake with a little garden with two hammocks. The family who runs it are very friendly and helpful. We had both breakfast, lunch and dinner there and the food was great! They made a big effort at breakfast to provide things for our children that they would like. We left early the last day and they got up and made a packed breakfast we could eat on the train. Our familyroom was nice with comfortable beds.

The hotel is in a beautiful place right by a lake, and the owner is lovely and really helpful! He helped us plan our trip, organised a great tuktuk driver/guide for the city at a very reasonable price, and even showed us to a restaurant with amazing and cheap local food. We also had a meal at the hotel, which was great Sri Lankan home cooking. I really recommend staying here!!

We loved everything!! From the traditional cooked meals made lovingly by Milan's mother, to the location right on a lake. Sitting in the garden watching the squirrels, birds and the occasional mongoose moving by. The hotel is close to restaurants and ATMs. Milan organised a safari to Wilpattu National Park, motorbike hire and anything else we needed during our stay, including a wonderful, informative tour of the city in a tuk tuk. The bed was comfortable, with a strong hot shower and good aircon. We would happily return here without any hesitation and look forward to doing so.Thanks Milan!

The room is very basic but has everything you need

I don’t know where to start! If you are looking for a wonderful location with the most beautiful people, pick here! Milan is so incredibly helpful & organised the best tours we took in Sri Lanka. We learnt so much from our guides and the prices were very low. Milan’s mother (amma!) is an amazing cook and seamstress. The food they cooked us was amazing and between them they organised many different foods that we had not tried before. The garden is absolutely beautiful with the hammocks and leads out to the lake which has a new path you can walk around. The hotel is full of beautiful plants everywhere! Amma makes the most wonderful clothes and other items. I had some trousers and tops made specially in fabrics I chose and love them! We really enjoyed our time here but mainly we loved spending time with Milan & his amma. We were very sad to leave and can’t wait to return some day :)

Its in a quiet neighborhood. The rooms were okay. Not super clean but had all the facilities. The owner accommodated our request to provide breakfast.

The bed broke in the night and I had to find alternate sleeping arrangements. I felt the linen was not cleaned properly. The place needs an ungraded.
