Hotel-Café Kampe

I always ask for one of the single rooms with view of the little pond in the back. It is quiet and lovely to watch the birds in the garden. There is a TV with plenty of channels and Wifi is ok, but better in the greenhouse hall. Breakfast offers plenty of choice and you can sit in the greenhouse entry to have it. There are banana trees and a coffee plant. Staff is very friendly. I sty here whenever I visit my family.

I stayed at Hotel Kampe in Norderstedt, Germany recently and it was ok but not great. Firstly the internet connection was a joke. It worked well downstairs in the public areas but barely worked from the rooms and colleagues who stayed there had the same problem. So checking or sending e-mails at night from the room was very difficult and I ended up having to sit downstairs all the time. The pillows where horrible and lumpy. I asked for a better one and got a pillow that was in worse conditon than the one that was already in the room. Towelling type of sheets that were quite rough and very warm and the bed was one of those pine beds with a foam mattress. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms, nor a fridge. The room was very clean though and aside from the bedding, nice enough. Breakfast buffet was nice, but nowhere was a warm breakfast mentioned nor did the waitering staff ever offer me a warm breakfast so I assumed breakfast was continental only. Then someone else asked for eggs and they did make it. Seemed to me that they will do a warm breakfast if asked but dont really advertise. The Hotel is ok for one or two nights but for a longer stay I would recommend Hotel Maromme, which is next door. It is a bit more expensive but you do get more comfort and free internet that works perfectly from your room.
