Landgasthof Hotel Zehenthof

The owner and family are wonderful, helpful, and kind. The location was a bit difficult to find at first, perhaps better instructions to find the hotel would be helpful. IE: "drive towards Werfen after coming under freeway bridge and take the turn right after the car repair agency on the right side. Sigm on the turn way is school bus pickup "in German of course. Breakfasts are typical Austrian fare with super choices and a fabulous coffee/cappucino machine/. Besides breakfast there is no other food served, but there is coffee and drinks available at an extra charge. No elevator so if stairs are an issue you need to be aware. Lovely views from terraces and beautiful grounds.

The location was very clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were cleaned up daily.

Check-in too late (16:00) and check-out too early (09:30).

Very bad pillows. The room is good, but rather unrepaired, with no kettle or even a glass for water. Tea can be bought in the kitchen, price 2 eur. Hairdryer must be requested at reception. Breakfast is monotonous. Boiled egg 3x from 5.

Room could use a bit of modernisation.

The owner was very nice. Breakfast was good. The drink fridge downstairs was nice to have to store a little food in as well as grab a beer if you wanted one. There was an inside playroom for younger kids and another hangout room with pool table, darts, and foosball (1 euro per game). Outside there was a trampoline and one swing for the kids plus an area with farm animals for the kids to look at. Also, an above ground pool if you are there in the summer.

The pool unfortunately wasn't open when we were there even though it said it would be online. There also was no kids playset that we saw in photos. They did have a trampoline and one swing though. We did not hear the highway noise that other reviewers mentioned from our room (on the opposite side of the building), but when you move around to the highway side yard area you can definitely hear it. It didn't bother us though.

Rooms are cosy, clean and super comfortable. Everything is very well organized. Bathroom is very modernly equipted. We had an exit to large terrase from our room, although this terrace is shared with neighboring rooms. Owner is very friendly, but his dog is even more friendly and warmed up our stay a lot. We felt very welcome. Station with beer, juices, water, tea and coffee, which microwave and plates was a bit pleasant surprise. We were very impressed by Igluhuts and it was a bit pity we did not see this option, when booked our stay. Hotel is situated only 15 min driving from Werfen with its beautiful castle and entrance to Eisriesenwelt. We also went to UNESCO town Halstatt. It took us 1 hour.

Well, it was a bit disappointed, that sauna, promised by Booking.com, was not available every day. We could probably ask owner to let us in, but we were to shy. There is no restaurants in walking distance, which might make life a bit complicative. You clealy can hear highway. We expected something like this and were not badly surprised. But it you are looking for complete silence this place is not what you need.

We loved the place. It was much better in reality than in photos! The owners are very friendly and welcoming! The place is located in a beautiful and peaceful are. So looking forward to visit again. Thank you Landgasthof Hotel Zehenthof
