Hotel Porte de France - Self Check In by Homenhancement

Smestaj sam po sebi je pristojan u smislu da nismo ocekivali nikakav luksuz. Prednosti smestaja je dobra lokacija i dobra povezanosti gradskim prvozom.

Higijena je veoma losa, jasno mi je da su apartman i namestaj stariji ali to ne opravdava prljavstinu celog apartmana. Posudje flekavo od prethonih gostiju, dlake od kose u kadi. Jedan veliki i jedan mali peskir, bez sapuna, bez tecnosti za pranje vec prljavog sudja. Dodatno cebe za pokrivanje veoma prljavo - neupotrebljivo. Jedino cista je bila posteljina. WI-FI konekcija izuzetno losa.

Lokacija i grejanje u objektu su odlicni.

Previse prasine, neprijatan miris iz toaleta, neudoban krevet, korišćeno i neoprano posudje u kuhinji.

Locatia

Curatenia, pânzele de păianjen de la lustra, prosoapele murdare, am avut dificultăți de a intra in camera cu acea aplicatie, iar in penultima zi nu mai mergea aplicatia si butucul usii unde a trebuit sa asteptam 4-5 ore sa se repare si am pierdut o zi de vizitare, personalul de aici ne-au spus sa ne lasam lucrurile in camera si sa plecam ca nu se fura dar nu am avut încredere si am mers peste drum la un restaurant si am mancat, incalzire nu există doar ni se pune un calorifer electric la dispoziție, mobila este foarte veche, singurul plus este patul comod si faptul ca este chiar in granita cu elvetia, in rest dezastru, am avut si o problema electrica ca a cazut curentul in a 3-a zi. Prosoape nu vi se dau decat daca platiti 80 euro in plus, iar la curatenie nu vine nimeni, iar shampoon sau gel de dus nu exista la baie. Bucataria este insalubra deci nu poti gati sau prepara ceva acolo.

Had a late flight out and got a room here (apparently for a night) just so we could shower and change before a long haul flight. The room cost was equal to 3 hours of a late checkout at the Novatel. Room was adequate though Saturday was the closed day so nobody in attendance. Tried to get dinner but few places open. As a shower n change point fantastic. Not sure I would stay the night though

I used this as a stop-over on our way to Venice. It was not far from the highway and a cheap option for a few hours of sleep. A plus for me, was that although there was nobody at the reception, they left the key with a note at the entrance and we could just get to our room. A minus could be that it's hard to find and there are currently a lot of roadworks around it. Nothing special, it looks just as cheap as it is, but clean.

The Hotel Porte de France, does the job. A basic, clean, straightforward place to stay 60 steps from the Swiss border (and a bit beyond that, there is a tram into central Basel). But you pay at least half the price of what you would pay in Basel. Our room was in an annex behind the main building. The room was fine although the lighting could be better. There is a kitchen, but we didn't see any soap to clean the dishes. It took me two tries to get an extra pillow and the doors can slam noisily if other guests aren't considerate. Overall, an okay room at a fair price.

Spent five nights at the Porte de France for just under £220, visiting christmas markets in this corner of France / Switzerland / Germany. It does not claim to be a 'posh' hotel, but then neither is it anywhere near as expensive as you can expect to pay for fairly similar facilities just across the border into Switzerland. The above sum gave us a decently sized double room, with en-suite shower room and kitchenette (fridge, 2 rings, pots and pans, dishes, cutlery and a washing up sink). We could walk to the nearest tram stop on the Basel network in under five minutes, giving ready access to the centre of Basel during the day and well into the night. Staying at a hotel in Basel city does give each person a 'free' travel card for all city transprt for the duration of your stay. This is not available if staying in Port de France. However, at only E8.50 per person per day to purchase a similar sort of ticket, you would need to use the system a great deal on every day of your stay to make this a financial incentive to stay in Basel 'proper'. In all depends on what you want - if reasonable pricing, good location and perfectly adequate facilities 'tick your boxes' then give this hotel a go!
