The Urban Pod Hotel

What I like about The Urban Pod Hotel is its excellent location. It is very near Cagayan de Oro City Hall and downtown Cagayan de Oro, making it highly accessible and convenient. It is also close to various commercial establishments, which adds to the overall convenience for guests.

What I didn’t like about the hotel was that I checked in at almost 5:00 PM even though the check-in time was 2:00 PM, but the room was still not ready. There were also no towels provided, and I had to call the staff to request them. The Wi-Fi was very slow, making it difficult to work. The free breakfast was just the typical silog meal — cold corned beef, egg, and rice. I was fine with the simple breakfast since it was free, but the disappointing part was that the corned beef was served cold. The bathroom was not well maintained, and you could already see damaged and worn-out parts. There was also no warm water in the shower, although the water pressure was very good. The bedsheets were not completely clean. While they looked generally clean, there were still some stains, including what appeared to be blood stains and other marks. I stayed for two nights, but no one cleaned the room or offered to replace the towels during my stay. The main door lock also needed replacement because it was very difficult to open using the key, and the keyhole already seemed loose and worn out. I understand that this is a budget 2-star hotel, but cleanliness and proper maintenance should still be prioritized.

The Urban Pod offers a refreshingly modern concept right in the heart of Cagayan de Oro. The location is ideal for travelers who want to stay close to the city’s vibrant center, with easy access to local dining and transport. The "pod" concept itself is well-executed, providing a private, secure, and futuristic sleeping space that is perfect for solo travelers or those looking for a minimalist, efficient stay.

While the pod experience was excellent, the toilet and bathroom facilities are in need of improvement to match the quality of the rest of the hotel. Maintenance: I noticed that some of the plumbing fixtures required attention, as the water pressure was inconsistent during my stay. Upgrades: Modernizing the shared bathroom areas would greatly enhance the overall comfort. Ensuring a more frequent cleaning schedule during peak hours would also help maintain the hygienic standards guests expect from such a contemporary establishment.

The accommodation was great. I like it because it is walking distance to the mall. Cozy.

The only reason we continued our 2 nights stay was because it was already paid.
