Hotel Papaya Surf

The staff was very polite and the location is incredibly central, making it easy to get to anywhere along the Zicatela beach by walking. We did have hot water in our room so that was a nice unexpected bonus. Also, the resident hotel cat, Rahoul, was the highlight of our stay!

The rooms are extremely spartan. You definitely get what you pay for. There is no A/C, the bed is hard as a rock, and there are minimal electric outlets. Also the lighting goes in and out. However, if you just need somewhere to rest your head at night and aren’t going to be spending much time in the room, it’s perfectly adequate and affordable!

The location is fantastic. Right across the street from the beach. The gentleman at the front desk was kind and helpful. Internet connection was outstanding.

The rooms were sketchy. They smelled musty, and my sheets were old and stained. The floors are concrete with a rough finish. The curtains did not cover the windows properly. You get what you pay for. The pictures online make the hotel look way better than it is.
