Hotel Cristallino d'Ampezzo

The facilities were excellent, and the room was spacious and comfortable. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly, and the breakfast was of very high quality.

Since the location is at the entrance to the city center, I had to walk a little to use the city facilities, but it wasn't a long walk.

Breakfast was superb, and very much 4*, and so was the restaurant on-site (where breakfast is also served). The bar also looks spacious and a nice place to relax. The room was large and the balcony too. Door to main road had very good sound proofing. Shower powerful. Staff lovely, welcoming, multilingual and check in straightforward. Price for room alone justified.

I think it is a bit generous to say this is 4* in all places, and I think the price we paid reflects this as it is a bit cheaper than some places, which is fair. The rooms are dated and tired in places and are much more 3* standard in my opinion, having stayed at 4* hotel in the area. The hotel has a car park, mostly empty (beware that even a small car struggles to park as it is very very tight down there), and they charge EUR 20 per night / 24h which is a lot (same per hour rate as the Tre Cime car park which is EUR 40 for 12 h), and a bit cheap of them to not offer free parking, or a more reasonable fee. The Spa is also very expensive at EUR 60 pp for a 2 hour slot, and as far as I could see it did not have a pool we went down the road and found a 5* Spa for same per hour price and it was substaintially nicer with large pool. I asked for a room not facing the road (which is quite loud in the day with door open, although silent with it closed) and the request was sadly not honoured. The restaurant downstairs for dinner while excellent is a bit on the expensive side for what it is. The corridors, stairs, and halls were also unlit unless you manually turn lights on, and it made it feel a bit unwelcoming. I know this is to save energy but it is a 4* hotel.

Nice, authentic looking hotel, not far away from Cortina center. Nice staff. Clean. Parking available in the garrage, although charged 20€ per day.
