The location is sad

It was clean. Basic but had everything necessary for a short stop over. Easy access to the centre of town by bus or 25 mins walk.

The non smoking room smelt heavily of nicotine. Not just someone who'd had a crafty fag, but layers upon layers of nicotine ingrained. The air con didn't work and you couldn't open the window because of the smell from outside.

We were specifically promised gluten-free products for breakfast prior to our arrival, so we booked the room with breakfast (my boyfriend can’t eat gluten). Upon arrival, an extra fee was charged from us for paying with card instead of cash. According to booking.com, all fees were included in the price mentioned on the website. Furthermore, according to the information found on booking.com and provided by the hotel staff themselves, parking was free for hotel guests (= factored into the price of the room). Turned out, however, that ”free parking” meant standard street parking without any security. In the absence of alternatives, we had to park on the street. Anyways, we paid and stayed. The bed was uncomfortably hard, at least on our backs. Next morning, we walked downstairs for breakfast. ”Breakfast” turned out to be a dry croissant in plastic package and a cup of coffee. My boyfriend with gluten intolerance got half of the deal - the coffee part. On site, the staff didn’t speak any English, so it still remains a mystery to us how they were able to understand our request for gluten-free products and reply ”yes” in the first place. Basically, we paid for nothing and checked out hungry. My recommendation? Avoid if you can.
