"Well intentioned but falls down on execution"

6.0

This is a difficult review to write as its clear that the hotel staff are very proud of their coffee concept. Some quality roasted beans were left as a welcome gift. A grinder, kettle, filters snd a contraption for making coffee were also provided. Unfortunately some basics have been overlooked. There were coffee mugs but no sugar and spoons. There was water and beer for sale in the cupboard but no fridge was provided. The room had a smooth concrete floor which was very cold. Remember we're up in the mountains here. There was a minimalist clothes rail, no wardrobe or mirror. The small room safe was light weight and not fixed to the wall so could very easily be carried out of the room under one arm. There was a smart TV but it was complex and cumbersome to use and the helpful girl from reception spent 45 minutes to fix it one evening. The staff were very friendly and helpful but only one really spoke English. In my broken Spanish I requested a hair dryer to be told there was none. When I called again and said that the room info lists one, only then did we get one. Breakfast was provided by the adjoining cafe which only opened at nine o'clock. There was another option nearby apparently which opened at eight but not on a Sunday. Breakfast was tasty but took a loooong time to prepare. You would expect them to have some basics (cereal, fruit) readily prepared at 9am when guests arrive for breakfast but that wasn't the case. The last morning we left very early, they most kindly prepared us a packed breakfast which was great. We paid 1500 Pesos per night (via a hotel booking website) which is A LOT for San Cristobal at that time of year so we certainly expected more. We cannot recommend this place unless they significantly reduce their rate. They are lovely and the hotel has great potential but its just not there YET.

"A unique and lovely hotel"

10.0

My son in law found this place when their usual hotels were booked. A wonderful find. Great coffee experience, great breakfast in their cafe, great central location. Coffee in the room taken to a whole new level with a barista level filter setup. Scales, coffee grinder, hot pot and detailed instructions-- en Espanol. Good thing my kids are so fluent!

Had the most amazing time in casa cafeologo. A new hotel, beautifully designed and kept. Probably the best staff I've ever met in a hotel. Very secure feeling. Great breakfast. Do yourself a favor and book this one.

"Excellent hotel & coffee place "

10.0

We stayed at this boutique hotel for two nights. We loved the soft beds and despite being in the city centre it is very quite to sleep. Breakfast was at the modern and trendy cafe they have and it was excellent. Everything here is top quality!
