Sunset Hotel

The Sunset Hotel is striking & modern building, located in a quieter part of the town opposite a lovely promenade & the beach (which is stunning). An easy & enjoyable 10-15 minute walk into Cefalu old town. The pool area was beautiful, fantastic views & the pool maintenance/service staff were very friendly & helpful. The private beach area was also beautiful, right opposite the hotel with good sunbeds and a friendly attendant/life guard. I'd recommend beach shoes, quite a few rocks in the sea to navigate. Cefalu itself is fabulous, buzzy, loads to see & do. Numerous fantastic restaurants & very reasonably priced. Our room was spotlessly clean, plenty of towels, toiletries and a good power shower. Check out was easy & the gentlemen on the front desk was very helpful , friendly. The cleaning staff were also very friendly & accommodating. The hotel is an easy 12 minute walk to Cefalu train station, less than an hour to travel into Palermo should you wish.

The check in experience was disappointing. It felt awkward & lacked any warmth or enough information. No help was offered with our cases when several staff were nearby. Our room felt small for 2 people. The jacuzzi was cold & not worth the extra cost, however that was my choice to book the room pool option. My husband used the gym after a frustrating experience being told it was open then finding it closed & having to find someone who then told him it was actually shut for a few hours. No water was provided in the gym when he eventually had access. Breakfast service was unfortunately very disappointing for a hotel of this calibre. Every morning we had to wait far too long for someone to take our coffee order & I was told several times to wait because I had asked the wrong person to help. I had to ask for a spoon every day! It was virtually impossible to get further coffees. I did raise my issues with one of the waiting staff & they said they would tell the manager. The food itself & choice was good. We did have a pleasant stay overall however the service does need improving in some areas, notably on the front desk & at breakfast.

The room was very comfortable with good aircon, very comfortable bed and a lovely sea view. The rooftop pool and bar was lovely but could do with more shade options. Breakfast was good and staff were help and friendly. Good beach facilities which made a beach trip very relaxing.

It could be more accessible, given it’s a modern hotel - there are a large number of steps up from the street and no-one on hand to help. There is a lift but not from street level. The spa facilities are an extra charge which was disappointing.

That they asked for us to bring the pool towels back down to reception. Strange request. Only hotel where towels aren’t at the pool and that we had to return to reception.

L'hotel avrebbe anche del potenziale. Il problema è la mancanza di professionalità di alcuni membri dello staff. La mattina del mio check out non c'era acqua nella stanza (sicuramente non colpa dell'albergo) ma la gestione dell'emergenza è stata disastrosa. Nessuna comunicazione ufficiale e risposte scocciate del personale a mia domanda. Stessa cosa quando ho chiesto un taxi. Sono spesso in viaggio e ho visto raramente una tale mancanza completa di cultura del servizio. Sconsiglierei vivamente quest'albergo anche per il rapporto qualità prezzo.
