"Lovely location and friendly people"

8.0

We stayed for 4 nights recently in this quaint little hotel. We loved the location right on the lake and the views from the terrace at breakfast. There are plenty of eating places nearby with the restaurant below the hotel being very good. Gianfranco and his team were very friendly and helpful. We also used the roof terrace and the honesty bar in the evening to finish off our day, it was lovely and not expensive. The hotel would benefit from air conditioning in the bedrooms and if it had that I could have closed off the noise outside in the early morning. That's the only negative and with that I would have given 5/5. We would definitely return though as we loved the hotel.

"Very Friendly"

8.0

We stayed in the Hotel Garni Riviera for two nights during an unseasonably hot week. We were warmly welcomed by Gianfranco, who provided a parking permit for 3 Euro per day plus a 10 Euro deposit, which enabled us to park the car in various on street parking places and in a small underground car park about 200m from the hotel, which was very useful although it can be difficult to find a space at certain times of the day. The hotel is located in the heart of Gargnano with an array of restaurants and bars very close by. The hotel is immaculate if a bit dated and the rooms are basic e.g. no Aircon, no minibar/fridge and safes are key operated rather than digital. The lack of Aircon is definitely a big negative during the summer and we did not get a great sleep due to this, despite having a corner room with windows on two sides because it was necessary to have the floor to ceiling windows open fully but there was a lot of noise up until midnight, from diners and staff in the restaurants below the hotel. The ceiling fan speed cannot be adjusted and it turns far too slowly making hardly any difference, this coupled with the volume being restricted on the TV meant that it was virtually impossible to listen to the TV with the windows open, due to the noise from the street and too hot to close the windows. Breakfast was served in a pleasant room with adjoining covered terrace and the choice of breakfast items was reasonable though more limited than other places we stayed on this trip. We lived in Southern Italy for three years so know that electricity supply can be a problem with regard to running lots of appliances but it can be solved by upgrading the supply at an additional cost and I really think this needs to be considered with regard to the Aircon as it would prevent us from returning to this hotel anytime from June to August, which is a pity as otherwise it is a nice place to stay and all other hotels we have stayed in across Italy had aircon. Gianfranco is very friendly and helpful, providing good advice and assistance. Ice is available from the bar, which is open until 8 p.m. (as is reception), which we found useful due to the lack of a refrigerator. The best things about this hotel are the location, views and friendly, helpful staff and whilst it would be fine for an edge of season stay, we would be unlikely to return in the summer, due to the lack of aircon and refrigerator.

"Better do not book via booking.com; for the rest ok."

4.0

Location: directly next to the port of Gargnano in the centre of this small village. 5 minutes’ walk from the "beach" to the lake. Several places to have dinner close to the hotel. Parking: very fair parking rate of 3 €/day (€ 10,- caution) for the garage (5 min. walk but pretty full) or on several places spread over the village (map at the back of the ticket). Room: middle size room, village side, with French balcony and air fan mounted on the ceiling. Bathroom with toilet, shower with folding door, bidet, washing stand, hair dryer. The sticker that towels are only changed every three days, is not the way it should be for a hotel in a region where guests go for swimming, hiking or biking. Breakfast: certainly the best of the hotel is the beautiful terrace on the first floor with a wide view over the lake. For Italy the choice is more than ok and the staff is very friendly. Price policy: no breakfast is included when booking via booking.com At the same rate IT IS when booking via the hotel's website. The breakfast is charged with EUR 5,- per person and day. It is understandable that there are some costs for the hotel in the form of provisions to booking.com but I do not think it is fair to let the guests pay for it. Also because a lot of promoting is done via booking.com (e.g. Tripadvisor gives the link to booking.com but not directly to the hotel). Even when I know how to avoid now, I will not stay here again (yes please I am waiting for the reaction of the hotel's owners having the final say!).

"Nice location and beautiful terrace views!"

10.0

We stayed at this hotel on a road trip through Italy. Conveniently, we were able to store our car down the street for 3€ a day. It's best to do a quick drop off of luggage before parking! The owners are a wonderful couple that were willing to offer help and suggestions to make our stay more comfortable. The hotel is situated right on the lake and while this is not a hotel with beach access there is a terrace on an upper floor to enjoy a drink or breakfast. We did not take breakfast at the hotel, so not able to comment on the quality or assortment. From the hotel there are many restaurants and shops on the street it is located. Rooms were clean and while there is no A/C , the fan and window seemed to provide enough cooling in the room. I would gladly recommend this for a a nice holiday.

"Wonderful Position on Lake"

8.0

Stayed seven nights in Gargnano at this lovely little hotel on the Lake. The room was nicely furnished and had full floor opening windows looking over the lake, what a view. Very good welcome. The breakfast was excellent and could be taken inside or as we did, outside on the covered terrace. Our room was very quiet. Gargnano itself was a lovely little village with a good selection of eating places and boats could be caught to other destinations. We were disappointed that the bus service was not more frequent at this time of year. Would certainly come back to the place and the same hotel.

"Excellent"

10.0

Nice family-run hotel just next to Lake Garda. Very good breafkfast, that you can enjoy on a wonderful terrace overlooking the lake. The owner are really nice and friendly and I felt like at home. The mattresses are rather hard but that's the way I like them so that was not a problem for me. Perhaps the only drawbacks are 1. the wifi rather spotty (I was disconnected several times during light usage) and 2. doors/walls that let a lot of noise go through. But overall and excellent stay and I would go back.
