Clean and cosy spacious room

Nothing , though it is thankfully in lovely countryside

We have used this "hotel" many times as it is a superb location half way to our destination BUT last visit it was getting extremely tatty & we were told it would shortly be modernised. This time we were told that had been done but found found hardly anything had - only minor tasks: taps are still old fashioned & hardly work (trickle); rubber plugs replace the proper original "mechanical"ones. Coffee, tea, milk etc limited to 2 per person. This has such excellent potential with lake, proximity to M'way in superb location - all totally wasted due to lack of vision & investment. They may say they have renewed pictures throughout in rooms & passages ..... They have, but they have used the same two black & white pictures - nothing else !! In such glorious countryside NO nearby localalities IN COLOUR. BUT ABOVE ALL - I was livid that having as usual booked in advance via Booking.com on internet at £74 the previous day or so I even went to the trouble to contact them en route to advise due to bad weather we may be later than we had previously said. When I checked in I am told price is £87.- I asked why & am told our dog. We had not brought him (a miniature dachshund!), she had not seen him. The booking form includes no space re dogs let alone quotes any price for one. It is suggested I join the Wyndham rewards scheme to book in future. WHY WAS THE BOOKING.COM PRICE NOT HONOURED? HAVE I BEEN CHARGED VIA BOOKING.COM? AS PREVIOUSLY THE BOOKING FORM INCLUDES CARD DETAILS TO BE DEALT WITH ON ARRIVAL. THE PRICE WAS HIGHER & I HAD TO SWIPE MY CARD. SHE SAID A WYNDHAM INVOICE WOULD BE PROVIDED & WAS UNDER OUR DOOR IN THE MORNING. THERE WAS NO-ONE AT THE DESK TO SPEAK TO WHEN LEAVING SO ... We shall NOT use Booking.

Right on the motorway so when you’re tired it’s great to be so close. Room comfortable, quiet. Dog friendly.

The reception feels like they’re expecting to be held up at gunpoint. A bit grim. No food, you just go to the services. Very noisy bathroom fan. TV reception poor.
