Hotel Viru Viru

The hotel itself looks pretty good, with a pool. The staff here is so nice and helpful.

Overall, this establishment needs reconstruction here and there, some proper cleaning.. for example to condense water from AC is leaking on the floor causing it destruction.. breakfast was so-so but they barely were able to refill during the time

Staff were very friendly, they arranged a taxi to the airport (same price as an Uber) and let us change rooms. The breakfast was decent. The location is central to the main plaza. The aircon is decent.

The ‘deluxe’ room we booked reeked of cigarettes, there was dust and grime on the sockets, cables were falling off the walls. It felt poorly maintained, with lots of marks on the walls, dated and broken decor. It was more expensive than a number of places we stayed in Bolivia, including Sucre and Potosi, which were also substantially nicer. The area itself also doesn’t feel particularly safe, especially at night - I imagine the whole of the centre of Santa Cruz feels dodgy. There was a surprising amount shut at the weekend, but it was a holiday.

Spacious room, nice swimming pool and outdoor area, nice hot shower.

As always, WiFi didn't work, the room is quite outdated, TV didn't work, no shower booth (wets the whole bathroom).

Could have been cleaner. Pool not clean but that said too cold to use it this time of year anyway.

Friendly, helpful staff. Sorted a taxi to take us to Samaipata Trufi station. Good location, easy stroll to central plaza and all restaurants. Breakfast was good. Good value and better than backpacker hostels at same price. Good aircon. Would stay again for location.

I was waiting for Tommy Lee Jones to arrive in pursuit of a felon at this faded glory 1960s style motel around a pool.
