"Friendly Hotel in Lanciano"

10.0

Visiting Lanciano on the way taking ferry from Ancona to Greece. Old city and not too famous as other big cities but nice place to visit. I met Louisa in this hotel and how friendly and caring of her taking care of me and the group. She's just by herself but managed everything well. Like the city, Excelsior is also not a modern hotel but it's friendly. Good location and you can walk to the Miracle of Lanciano. Overall I see people in Lanciano is more friendly than other big cities in Rome. You may put this place enlist for your next Italian trip and this hotel of course to stay :)

"Last minute booking"

8.0

Last minute booking - hotel is centrally located in the city near shopping and restaurants. WIFI only worked in lobby (it was supposed to work in rooms but coverage/power seemed very spotty). Parking on street in front of hotel. Lobby is beautiful, rooms look a little worn. Room itself was very simple and good for a one night stay.

"Nice Stay in Lanciano"

8.0

I stayed at the Hotel Excelsior in December 2014. At this time of year it was very quiet not many guests but the hotel staff are some of the most helpful and pleasant I have come across. The lobby area is well maintained and has an old wordly charm about it. The room that I stayed in could certainly do with a refurbish but was comfy. There is no coffee making facility in the room but TV had a vast coverage of chanels. Smoking rooms are available which is not common these days. The views from the upper rooms are stunning with the mountains in the distance. The resturant was okay. Breakfast is fairly basic with some cereal, fruit, yoghurt and pastries. Evening meals not quite so good and it only opened from 20:00 hours. Overall, I would stay again, and for the cost is a perfectly reasonable place to stay, if you want to explore the lovely region around Lanciano.

"Setting the Bar High for Service, Value and Quality"

10.0

Hotel Excelsior reminds me of grand, high-class hotels that seem to be an endangered species among hotels where regular people stay. The staff, service and surroundings may you feel like royalty. The central location in Lanciano and the views from the hotel alone are worth the visit. Very easy walking distance to the best of everything Lanciano has to offer.

"My family summer stop over / Lanciano"

8.0

We were recommended by a few friends about staying at the Excelsior before leaving to other destination. My family was not dissapointed. The staff was very friendly, the room very comfortable and very clean. I would recommend if your going to stay at the Excelsior ask for the upper levels, great views. The location was perfect, walking distance to the downtown core. The place was slightly out dated however very comfortable.

"Nice View from Hotel Room"

8.0

Stayed for a night and was surprised to wake up to a beautiful sunrise from my hotel room. Hotel staff was very friendly. Enjoyed dinner and breakfast. However, the room needs some sprucing up, not enough lighting.

"Conveniently located, friendly staff, wonderful views from breakfast."

8.0

We stumbled upon the Excelsior years ago and always begin our travels down the coast there. If you travel to one of the busier port towns like Pescara you will see what a treasure Lanciano is. This also goes for the Excelsior. We were in Italy for a work related extended stay and became good friends with the owner. Every time we would return to the marbled lobby it was like returning to family. The staff was that warm and hospitable. And each morning the fresh breads and array of gourmet jams/jellies would set us right for the rest of the day. I have recently been made aware of how helpful and hurtful Trip Advisor can be for small operations and I wanted to comment on the previous review. Yes, the Excelsior may be a little aged, but it is homey with nice Italian touches and it is extremely convenient to everything- but hands down the managment and staff is what truly made it a 'must stay' for us.

"Hotel is tired and needs some tender loving care"

6.0

positives: - nice views from the rooms (upper floors) and breakfast room (top floor) - good location - rooms are a good size - staff tried to be helpful negatives: - hallways and rooms smelled a little musty - air conditioning did not work well (and was not even switched on initially despite assurances to the contrary by the front desk until they realized I was correct) - parking is on the street, not a problem unless it is market day - the hotel needs some renovations as evidenced by the state of the carpets and walls, and the very dated room furnishings. - breakfast buffet selection was limited

"Very Nice Hotel in Heart of Lanciano"

10.0

We stayed in this hotel as a part of a parish pilgrimage (visited Eucharistic Miracle at St Francis Church a few blocks away. This is a modern hotel but had a great Italian feel - not just glass & steel, but stone, marble, statues in the lobby, etc. The room was amazingly large and comfortable. Only challenge was finding a power outlet - not unusual in Europe (this is why we carry an European extension cord). Separate bathroom was also spacious and nice. Dinner and breakfast (both excellent) was in top floor dining room with great view of the city and distant mountains. When I asked the desk manager where I could do internet, he pointed to his desk and said "Use my computer." After about 30 minutes we finished and asked how much we owed him, he just shrugged and said "No Charge!" The festival for Pentecost was underway and there was a street fair just a block away which we strolled through. They had one street lit gloriously with a lighted series of arches - very beautiful. I'm not sure why Lanciano is not on every Christian's must see list in Italy. Google it and put it on your list for next time your in that neck of the woods! As far as this hotel, I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it for anyone traveling to Lanciano.
