Margarita Village kite school kalpitiya

The village is in very local place with lots of nature around. Then you cycle to centre where more people are staying so it’s big kitesurfing community with lots of instructors

Very simple but clean and spacious bungalow in a nice compound with lots of plants, atmospheric outside bathroom and shower, very friendly staff, tasty breakfast, free drinking water refill station, old bikes provided to get to the kite center (about a 7 minute cycle).

The mosquito net in my room had some holes in it which defeats its purpose as I ended up with mosquitos inside the net despite having tucked it under the mattress when going to bed. You'll want good earplugs as it gets noisy even before sunrise due to the nearby mosque and the birds in the surrounding trees. It wasn't clear to me whom to ask for the final bill when I wanted to pay for my stay as there is no reception desk, so in the end it took over a day for me to be able to pay. (which wasn't an issue for me as I had enough time to follow up on it, but might be an issue for someone who needs to leave at a certain time).

the accomodation was fantastic but the kiteschool seemed quite chaotic; packages did financially not add up, information was scarce, dinner and lunch is rather expensive

Had a wonderful stay at Margarita. Incredibly nice staff, beautiful garden in the Village, good vibes and skilled kite instructors. Had lots of fun and would love to re-visit!

We stayed one month in total and we had an amazing stay at Sri Lanka Kite by Margarita ! The kite spot is perfect for beginners to more advanced level. The school is located on the upper part of the lagoon where there are less schools, which meant that some days we were only 5 on the spot. The staff is incredibly nice, we felt really good during our whole stay. There are also three beach boys, Chathu, Sanji and Diane, who are super helpful and are always happy to help you in any situations (rescue, untangle the lines, bring your kite upwind). The owners, Ruben and Eusebi, are very nice, accessible at all time and super flexible ! We changed our plans multiple times and whenever we needed a plan for a driver or an activity they had very good contacts. We also did a kite trip to Vella island where we did our first downwind, best experience ! The food was also amazing. Every night there is buffet, usually a Sri Lankan rice and curry, and sometimes, as the owners are spanish you can find some tortilla or chorizo. The pizzas were also the best in whole Sri Lanka ! We loved our stay and thanks to all the team we could progress a lot. Looking forward to come back !!
