Palace Mirissa

Only thing I liked about this place was the views from the room and the peacocks 🦚

The location was bad and didn't have any beach access. You have to walk down and come back up on a very steep hill, which really will get you fed up. The food was not good, breakfast was the same for all 2 days and the dinner was so bland even though the portion was big. The room started to leak from the ceiling , and water started seeping from the door when it rained. There was no water in the breakfast service, and it was very clear that some of the ingredients were almost spoiled. During breakfast, I could hear the receptionist arguing with some other staff, which I personally thought was not nice. There were only 2 TV channels on the TV, and it was a boring place. No floor rags were given, and I had to request it. Most of the staff was quite nice.

The location was great and it felt like we really experiencing the country whilst staying here - requested a sea view and we were able to watch the surfers from our room and would have happily stayed for longer but travelled to many places after. We had plenty of spaces to park our hire car and didn't need to use it when we stayed as the location was so close to the beaches, bars and shops of Mirissa. We arrived for my partners 30th birthday and they very kindly decorated the room which was a lovely treat. All staff we friendly - carrying bags and fetching cushions and towels for the pool - and gave us a welcome drink when we arrived (even though later than stated). The most surreal part was having breakfast with the peacocks and monkeys! We didn't realise how close we would be to the monkeys until swimming in the pool and realising they were all in the trees, roaming around! Truly felt like we were in the heart of Sri Lanka and loved hearing the waves, animals, and birds during our stay.

The room was not isolated from lizards. Definitely use the mosquito nets and wear repellent - we didn't realise until the second day just how many mosquitos there are as we were covered in bites after spending a little time on the balcony on our first evening. The hill to the hotel is very steep - not too bad if you take it slow but enough to really need some 'oomph' of an engine to get up. The pool shower didn't work when we used it. And our room was good but there weren't many hooks in the bathroom, and there were ants coming through the floor vent in there too. It would be good if there was a table in the room as the top of the fridge was used for drinks/food storage.

Room was amazing, particularly loved the paintings on ceiling, grounds were well maintained as was the pool. Breakfast was good and staff were good. View from room was lovely, great that we could use facilities at sister hotel on the beach.

Due to the location the noise from the beach parties travelled up and could hear music till 6am in the morning which kept us awake unfortunately.

The room was beautiful and close to Mirissa Beach, and another beach club that offered chairs and a pool. Their were beautiful murals on the ceiling and a very large room and nice breakfast buffet.

The hotel is situated above the end of Mirissa Beach near many bars/nightclubs. Both nights of our stay very loud music started at 9pm and did not end until 3am on Friday night and 6am was still going when we left on Saturday. The staff moved our room to a quieter location for Saturday, but we could still hear the bass. I wish we had known this before booking.
