Awesome Place

The location of this place is truly incredible and completely unforgettable! Drinking morning coffee while overlooking mountains is a memory I'll cherish forever. I was blown away! It's worth noting that this breathtaking view does come with a 30ish minute drive from Ella. The hotel staff manage the transfer as the road leading to the hotel is steep and in poor condition. The staff at this place goes above and beyond, making the stay feel genuinely special.

De medewerkers waren heel aardig en de pizza was lekker. De kamer was enorm en op het balkon stond een hele fijne grote bank. Heerlijk om daar je boekje op te lezen.

Het hotel had een backpackers vibe en daardoor vond ik de prijs -kwaliteit verhouding niet kloppen.

Small and very cosy hotel in the middle of the jungles, with wonderful mountains view. Stuff was very, very polite and helpful.

Road to the hotel. It was not that bad as other guests have told but definitely could get some improvement.

We stayed here for three nights after driving down from Kandy in our rented car. After a long journey, we arrived in the dark and were met with a very rocky road leading to the hotel. At one point, we weren’t even sure we were going the right way. As mentioned in other reviews, this rough road stretches for about 1 km and takes roughly 15 minutes to navigate due to the low speeds required. Unsure of the route, we contacted the hotel, and they immediately came out in their van to meet us and guide us to the entrance — a gesture that really set the tone for the excellent service we’d experience throughout our stay. Once we arrived, we couldn’t have been more impressed by the warm welcome and attentiveness of the staff. The service was impeccable from the moment we stepped inside. Our first meal was cooked on request by one of the staff members, and it was absolutely outstanding. Although we arrived at night and couldn’t see the surroundings, our room was spotless, comfortable, and fully functional. The next morning, when we opened the curtains, we were completely blown away by the breathtaking views — truly stunning. To our surprise, the staff had even washed our car, free of charge and without being asked — another sign of how thoughtful and caring they are. Breakfast each morning was served with beautiful views and perfectly chosen background music. The menu alternated between Western and Sri Lankan options, both delicious — honestly, the food and service are 10/10. The hotel isn’t located in the centre of Ella, but they offer transport options (either a van or tuk-tuk). We chose the van for a full-day trip around Ella, from 08:00 to 17:00, and it was fantastic. We visited Nine Arch Bridge, Little Adam’s Peak, two temples, Ella town for lunch, and the Secret Waterfall. The driver was patient and accommodating, waiting at each stop so we never felt rushed.

If we had to be critical, the road was not ideal to get to the hotel as this meant it took even longer to get into Ella.

Awesome Place is an accommodation where the surrounding nature is breathtaking, the views are simply heavenly, and it is impeccably maintained and clean. In the room, attention was truly paid to every little detail that makes the stay more pleasant. The staff was very friendly and the food was very tasty. This is a genuine haven for relaxation.

The room was too small for a family of four. However, we were completely disappointed by the final price, which differed from the one we had reserved through Booking.com. This left a very, very bitter aftertaste. When we left for sightseeing, they 'gifted' us water to take along. They charged us 10 times the price for each bottle compared to the price in the store.

Despite being down a long and difficult road, the service at Awesome Place was good. The staff, and especially the manager, were super nice and did the best they could with the facility they had. The food was very delicious but very expensive, and it felt like a bit of a scam. The view was very nice.

We got in trouble from our driver because the road was so bad that it damaged their van. The rooms were a bit dirty and we had to request a room change because the bathroom made the room smell terrible. The owner requested an additional charge to change rooms, but we didn't hesitate because the smell was really bad.

The staff was excellent, very friendly and the view was perfect, also the room was very beautiful, with beautiful facilities. Also there is a pool with wonderful view. Communication with staff was easy, they also helped us out about transport. The bed was really comfortable and we had a great and tasty breakfast.

The road - the road to the hotel is horrible, but it is GOVERMENT fault. Basically, you can get there only by tuc tuc, but here is the thing - You can go with your driver max to the dirt road, but later no one tries to go there, only the tuc tucs from the hotel are ready to drive you there and it costs around ~500 rupees one way. It wasn’t mentioned before. The second thing- after you check out, they will give you a bill. But PAY ATTENTION TO THE PRICES. Because the price wasn’t the same as we booked in booking.com, they had their own extra VAT, then if you take some food or drinks, there will be extra 10% and after they charge you for extra mystical service fee - together is was way more expensive than we throught it would be.

Forte odeur d’humidité dans la chambre et la salle de bain Une déco notamment dans la salle de bain très kitch et de mauvais goût (reconstitution d’une sorte de fausse grotte de pierre, statue nue qui fait office de douche !!). Une salle bain dans laquelle vous ne vous éternisez pas…. L’hôtel est éloigné d’Ella (environ 20 a 30 minutée de voiture + une route cabossée empruntée par le véhicule de l’hôtel pdt encore 15 a 20 minutes). Contraignant

Ontbijt en eten was fantastisch. Heel vriendelijk personeel, sfeervolle locatie, prachtig uitzicht en prima kamers. De weg is inderdaad bumpy. Je moet er wat voor over hebben om er te komen, maar dat heeft ook zijn charme en is het zeker waard!
