Hotel Maela

The room was pretty, beds were comfortable and staff was kind.

The room was really dark, the window or courtains could never be open, as it faced the hall and corridor. Also and very important: the shower was pretty bad, spreading water all over, I believe some simple fixing should solve it though.

Small things: reading lights by beds should be individual, more plugs, better mattress.

The location is amazing and the property is on a quiet street - not always easy to find in Oaxaca. The bed is comfortable and the room is clean and a good size. Front desk staff is nice ! Overall good for the cheap price.

You get what you pay for - this is a value hotel. There is no air con (but the ceiling fan works well). There was some construction in the corridors - while not bothersome or noisy, it left common areas dusty and unclean. The rooms are pretty dated, especially the bathroom/shower. We didn’t have this issue but our friends across the hall had a bad roach issue, though the hotel was accommodating and offered them a new room.

Great location and close to the cathedral. Most staff were friendly and polite. Nice to have a restaurant attached for breakfast (price not included). I found the bed comfortable.

Stuffy room, old facilities, no lift and my room was next to the staircase so felt apprehensive to have the window open.
