It is with great, great pleasure I write this review about Anouk Hotel. I stayed there along with my very sick wife for 5 nights. She worsened (this is nothing to do with Anouk but a personal medical matter) and had to go to hospital and was too ill to travel so we had to extend our stay by another 4 nights; so, we stayed 9 nights there. Therefore, my experience with this hotel is not based on just one or two nights or a hunch. So, bear this in mind as you read this review: 1. The building: I’m not sure when it was built but it is of solid concrete and brick construction is a very strong building overall. Shops/businesses are on the ground floor and the hotel has about 33.3% of the second floor which houses the spacious reception and dining areas. My score for the building is 9 out 10. 2. Our room: there are 15 rooms on the third floor: a. Our room – large size (10 out of 10 for size) b. Cleanliness – our room was very clean (10 out of 10 for cleanliness) c. Facilities in the room: Large desk and chair (10 out of 10); 2-draw cabinet at each side of the bed near the pillow (10 out of 10); our room had a ‘half-sized’ fridge which we really appreciated and used from the moment we arrived to last second before we left (11 out of 10); noise: this was one of the quietest rooms in the hotel (9 out 10); privacy: our room was viewable by only any birds or creatures in the top of a very high tree [ 😉]; the floor is clean and look brand new tough I suspect no recent refurbishment has taken place in our room or anywhere else in this very clean hotel for years. But best of all was the bathroom and the bed itself in the room. The bed first. I thought my bed at home in London was comfortable, but this bed is THE MOST COMFORTABLE BED I have ever slept in – in my entire life (20 out of 10) 😉. It sucks you in and just will not let you go. You just have to stay there and enjoy the sheer comfort! 😉.

:-) :-) :-) It was very clean with the toilet and shower areas completely separated from each other and looking as modern as from whenever it was built or last refurbished. The room is also air-conditioned and has a TV. Everything you need for a perfect holiday or working trip stay is there! 😊 3. Food. Anouk has a master chef. He makes very delicious dinners. I had tried most of the different dinners and they were very tasty and filling. And the breakfast was great too and set up for the day (no need to eat lunch outside). 4. Electricity. If you are regular to Madagascar you know (but if this will be your first time then please be aware) there are daily power outages across the country. Sometimes for a few minutes other times maybe 5 or 6 hours, one or more times a day. The only way around this is for the business or whatever organization concerned is have their own generators that kick-in when the power goes. I’ve been appalled at hotels I’ve been to (and working online) when the power goes and the internet along with it. Most of them do NOT tell you this when showing you nice rooms online or on booking.com. This I see as deception. One poor bloke on my last trip in January and stayed at another hotel. He arrived about 2:30 in the morning to a dark hotel and no electricity in his room! Well, you will NOT have this problem at Anouk Hotel – full stop! When power goes the Anouk Generators take over and lights and power are back on in about 10 seconds. (But once the power goes so does your internet connection so you have to log-on again into your account.) 5. Hotel Staff: While I did not ask the names of everyone all the staff there were helpful, friendly, and smiley. But I have to single out special praise to Noofi and Leoni. They took turns operating the reception area and dealing with customers directly. To tell you the truth they were brilliant (20 out of 10!) At times the beds were not made and cleaning was not done

The place is acceptable for the rate offered. Close to the airport and the venue of our meeting. It was fair. What you see is what you get. There was a power cut every evening at 2210hrs, but the generator kicked in within a minute.

My room was not cleaned. Not sure if it was because I did not leave the key card when I went out. Aircon in my room kept showing an error. I had to switch it off and on again, and it would work for about 15 minutes, then give an error again.
