Almaplena Boutique Hotel

Great location between Mahahual and Xcalak. Beautiful architecture and beautiful garden guarantee pure relaxation under coconut trees. Very friendly staff. good price-performance.

The current was strong and the white sand-beach was buried under tons of seaweed. Some parts of the rooms would need repair; e.g. our terrace door could not be locked. But we felt safe in the surrounding.

the hotel is cozy, quiet, in front of the sea. The room was nice, big enough. The bed was comfortable.

It becomes old and a bit neglected. The beach was full of algae and rubbish during all our stay. This is a real problem, not only at that place but all along the coast. We went to Mahahual, Tulum, Playa del Carmen there are tons of algae.

Very nice hotel, only issue is that it is far away from everything so breakfast included should be an option i think.

It is a very nice quiet eco hotel on the beach, surrounded by jungle. We liked that it was secluded and it’s wonderful terrace to relax. The staff was very nice and the kitchen tasty. It is an eco hotel, so you cannot use for example a blow dryer (because of the energy consumption) but we loved its sustainable approach. When we were there, there were a lot of couples. We can definitely recommend it, since it is quite romantic.

Bring your mosquito repellent spray! If it rains there are plenty of mosquitos. Also, there are quite some brown algae (sargassum), so be prepared for that.

super location, super staff, bigggh room on the beach. And reef in front of the hotel for snorkeling.

everything I liked except: you ONLY can pay cash! for drinks and food.
