First, it is nestled right in the mountains, in the center of San Jose. Next, there is a fun hippy vibe about the place that is consistent with the area. This means there is also a great community vibe within the common areas, with opportunities to meet people from far and wide. Staff are very friendly and can whip up great meals!

I guess you cannot expect luxury since the prices are very fair, but drawing warm water can be a task. Also, in the room I got the bed was sort of lumpy.

No breakfast included. Location is great.

The bed was itchy, felt like there might have been bed bugs in there. They need to replace the mattress and covers, we could not sleep and were itchy all night until we decided to to put our clothes on.

Mandala hostel is a very special place, especially if you are looking for a quite space and some privacy. It's organic and has a stunning view, as everywhere is San Jose del pacifico. I would definitely go back there.

This bed was extremely uncomfortable, and that's speaking as someone who slept in a tent on a half inch camping pad for three months; the mattress was lumpy and you could feel the springs in the bed. The bed was also freezing even with two blankets, sweats, and two sweatshirts. I booked two nights and only ended up staying one. It was also quite expensive for the quality when you can get hostels in San Josef for 150 pesos a night if you look outside hostel world/booking.com
