Nice river view from the room, the breakfast was good. Very clean. Staff really nice.

We slept poorly because mosquitoes were annoying and some guests were talking loudly and watching TV in the early morning hours. You could hear every word; the walls are paper-thin.

Had a wifi issue

The location on the bank of the Mekong River is stunning. Enjoying the decent hotel breakfast as I watched life on the Mekong awaking was special. The staff proved also very helpful in arranging transport and giving advice as to what to do in and around town. I got a good nights sleep on both nights.

Many hotels in Chiang Khan offer bicycles for their guests to use. As one of the hotels furthest out of town, it is a real omission that River Tree does not do this. However, I was able to take a tuk-tuk into town and rent one myself from another hotel. The hotel can also arrange tuk-tuks and taxis for you if needed. The only other things I didn't like were: the damp smell in my room and the fact that I had requested a quiet room on a high floor when I booked, but I was given a room next to the lift on a low floor. Thankfully, when I asked the staff to change my room they were able to move me to a room a bit further away from the lift. However, overall the things I liked about River Tree far outweighed these smaller issues.

Lovely views over the Mekong if you get a room on the 5th floor.

The internet connection is terrible and the breakfast is very poor. The shower offers either reasonable pressure or reasonable temperature, but not both at the same time. Sometimes there are 5 reception staff loafing around doing nothing, other times there's no one there and you're wandering around asking the cleaning staff if they know where all the receptionists went.
